As a point of notice .. many have claimed this in the past. I have even written about T-Mobile’s coverage maps and its overly ‘positive’ coverage where none seems to exist. The FCC has in the past 6 months created a new coverage map site, and those looking for specific local coverage may wish to validate areas of issue with .. the FCC’s maps, which use carrier provided data. I have a couple of cases in point. Some that have had issues for as long as I’ve had service with T-Mobile. FCC’s map pretty much indicate it. Eg. Main Street Cambria (West Village) + Park Hill + Happy Hill Note: FCC’s coverage map claims ‘outdoor’ coverage, and for the town of Cambria .. is quite accurate. Also, you’ll have to zoom in A LOT to get to see deadzones vs. percentage coverage. https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/provider-detail/mobile?version=jun2023&zoom=14.67&vlon=-121.086727&vlat=35.550078&providers=130403_400_on%2C130403_500-1_on%2C130403_500-2_on&env=0&pct_cvg=014KViews0likes1CommentI only get 2 or one bar of service
I only get 2 bars of service, and 2 bars is the highest it’ll go. I paid for another month not too long ago, and it still doesn’t go past 2. I’ve tried everything from restarting to re-inserting the sim card again. I really don’t want to think I paid $50 just for 1-2 bars. Is there anything else I can do to get my data to reach 4 bars again? My phone model is the iPhone XS Max.8.7KViews1like6CommentsMajor network issues on Note 20 ultra with T-mobile network and Cellspot
I live at the edge of T-mobile coverage on a hill. T-mobile provided me an LTE cell spot for years which worked fine with my Note 8 for the last 2.5 years. I bought my Note 20 ultra on September 6. Everything was fine for about a month. Then, as of last week, around October 11, I started having major issues with phone calls and texts. 1) inability to make phone calls from the cell network No matter how many times I try, calls don't go through. This happens when connected to the cell network. I dial the number and it just doesn't go through or terminate. The same happens if I redial, no matter how many times. If I enable Wifi calling, calls do go out, at least. However, there is frequently silence of 2-3 seconds that make it very difficult to have a conversation, especially when my air conditioner comes on. This is despite being less than 10ft from the wireless AC access point, and being connected at a Wifi rate of 866 Mbps, with the backend Internet connection being Comcast gigabit. 2) inability to send texts when connected to either LTE or Wifi network I use Signal with the confirmation on. Texts just hang forever when I send them. Recipients do not get them. Sometimes the texts will go out an hour later. Sometimes they result in an error. The behavior with receiving texts is similar. 3) as instructed by a t-mobile tech, after rebooting my phone, and being located 6ft from my cellspot, it shows 4G or 4G LTE signal, and an "X" next to it, ie. zero bars. I can't make any calls, send/receive any texts, or use any data. 4) a reset of all the network settings on the phone did not fix the problem. 5) t-mobile did a "refresh SIM" on their end. It did not fix the problems. 6) If I power off the cell spot, all the problems go away in my home office. This is what I did for the last week while waiting for a replacement cell spot. But I then have only 0.4 Mbps speed even on the 5G network. In other spots in my home, I have zero cell network signal at all. I am in a 4600 sq ft home. T-mobile send me a new replacement cellspot. I just got it yesterday. All the lights on it are green. Unfortunately, all the problems described above are also back on my phone once the cellspot is on. The cellspot is supposed to improve cell signal, but in fact completely kills it for me instead with my phone ! At this point, I'm completely stuck with using my Ooma voice over IP phone to make phone calls. Without it, I would be completely SOL with making calls. I cannot reliably send or receive texts, since Ooma doesn't offer that service. It is too late for me to return my Note 20 Ultra to the store. And I have already sold my Note 8. My husband also has a Note 20 ultra, bought from Costco the same day as mine, and isn't experiencing the same problems, though he is not home most of the time. It seems there is something wrong between my own Note 20 ultra and the cellspot. But I don't know what it could be. I'm really at my wits' end. Obviously I have been working with T-mobile techs on the phone on this, but they haven't been able to fix it. I posted my question to the Samsung forum as well at https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-note20-note20-ultra-5g/major-network-issues-on-note-20-ultra-with-t-mobile-network-and/m-p/2178139#M4773 .Solved7.5KViews0likes12CommentsHow do I request a tower/coverage?
I’ve been using Sprint/T-Mobile for many years now and will be moving in the near future. The data speed and coverage over this time has been great, but the area that I will be moving to has a coverage problem. Being in that area first hand and looking on the map I have noticed this issue. The area surrounding where I will be moving has great service 4G LTE & 5G, but for some reason the specific area I will be moving to has no coverage! I’ve called Customer Support and there was nothing they could do on their end. With this, I was wondering how would I request coverage or a tower for the area we will be moving? I would love to stick with T-Mobile heading into the future as I have had no issues thus far. Thanks!5.9KViews0likes6CommentsNewly Installed LTE Home Internet, Now Slow Speed...
Just installed the LTE Home Internet yesterday and worked great out of the box after setup, called AT&T and cancelled the internet service right away. Now today my internet speeds are way down. Is there something I’m missing? Is there a way to reliably test the internet Up/Down speeds? Signal thing says very good with four bars. Would like my speed to be back up again. Side note, we are a large family with easily 15-20 devices that would connect to the router.5.7KViews0likes10CommentsConstant Issues with Cellular Signal
Over the last few years, I’ve noticed a problem with the cellular signal in my area getting more erratic. Over the last 3-6 months, it’s become substantially worse and my cellular connection is almost unusable at times. This usually happens in the area I live in but it has happened occasionally in other areas. My phone can have full bars of cellular service yet I intermittently cannot send or receive texts and/or phone calls. (I don’t make or receive a lot of phone calls, so I don’t notice it as much, but it definitely happens.) Lately, it’s happened more often than not. I originally thought this was just affecting me so I tried software updates, restarts, etc. Recently I found out that this has been affecting my whole household, which is all on T-Mobile. We all have different phones (Samsung S9, Samsung S8, and a Google Pixel 3a). The only thing I’ve found that helps somewhat when I notice that a text won’t send is to put my phone into airplane mode and then take it out. I’d say it gives me a 50% chance of sending the text. I’ll sometimes put it in and out of airplane mode 2-3 times to get a text to send. I’m not sure what can be done about this. I suspect that perhaps the cellular network in my area is overloaded or something else is going on with the network. Any advice/information would be great!5.6KViews1like9CommentsDiscounts for Military & Veterans

I just don’t understand the disconnect or differences in the 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G wireless generations and why 5G seems to be so different. I never had to second guess what my status bar is indicating. I have had “5G” connection issues on Apple, Samsung, and now Google devices. Random errors like “emergency calls only” or no signal whatsoever. Or full 5G UC access - yet I can dial my phone and watch it not ring or indicate a missed call. I can even send a text message or leave a voicemail and neither ever arrive. Thought this issue was limited to Samsung and Apple. Got a Pixel - same issue - so I think it’s the Tech itself and/or the tower but not the devices. Had 5G + on my Pixel 6 - placed a call while out and it rang but left voicemail - nothing. Realized the voicemail didn’t pop up - tried again - nothing. Then I got a “missed” call. Yet no ring. When asked, the person said it rang but it was a long delay, and it didn’t seem like a regular ring. Not sure why this is but when 5G is enabled, at some point your device “disconnects” from the network and you have no idea you have missed any contact attempts. Turn 5G off? Walla! Issues are gone. Smh Did those two voicemails ever pop up? Nope! Still waiting. Imagine if someone called me during this time, left their dying will on my voicemail and I would not have any clue they called me, let alone that they left a message. Meanwhile my phone shows connected and full 5G access. T-Mobile engineers need to speak on this, and they need to stop this 5G push if it isn’t even reliable. NEVER had to ponder if my device is connected or not with LTE. NEVER. I guess I will try 5G when 6G comes out ……….5.4KViews8likes14Comments
