Why is my phone connecting to tmobile edge

Hello. A day or two ago I noticed when I’m not on wi-fi my phone is connected to “T-Mobile Edge” and data is super slow, almost non-functional. What is going on?

    T-Mobile is shutting down 3G service. What model phone are you using?

    Seems to have been resolved after working with T-Mobile technical service.
