Here we are, nearly four months after Sprint became part of T-Mobile and it’s a great time to update you on our network. We’ve accomplished so much already in bringing our two networks together to build a transformative, nationwide 5G network for all.

Third-party reports are already showing just how much progress we’re making. T-Mobile is <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/news/t-mobile-is-the-top-wireless-carrier-in-the-toms-guide-awards-2020">ranked</a> best in the industry based in large part on our aggressive 5G rollout. A <a href="https://www.opensignal.com/reports/2020/06/usa/mobile-network-experience-5g">new report</a> from Opensignal ranks the T-Mobile network first for 5G availability, meaning Un-carrier customers get a 5G signal more often than customers on any other network – more than twice as often as AT&T and 56 times more often than Verizon! Plus, a new <a href="https://www.speedtest.net/global-index/united-states#market-analysis">report</a> from Ookla measuring 4G and 5G from over one million customer devices shows that T-Mobile has 5G in nearly 4X more cities than Verizon and AT&T (and 32X more cities than Verizon alone). And T-Mobile customers with a 5G-capable device experience faster overall download and upload speeds than Verizon customers.  And look at the Verizon availability score – yep – no typo here – that’s 0.4%.....

First, this is part of a multi-year strategy playing out. We set out years ago to purpose-build the broadest, deepest 5G network in the country and cover more people in big cities and rural America. It started by using low-band 600 MHz spectrum. When we first <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/news/press/nationwide-5g">announced</a> our intent to use 600 MHz as the foundation for 5G, the <a href="https://www.lightreading.com/mobile/5g/is-t-mobiles-5g-plan-just-a-pipe-dream/d/d-id/732502">reaction</a> was … well ... interesting. Back then, everyone was following Verizon’s lead and betting on millimeter wave as the cornerstone of 5G. In the ensuing years, everyone – and I mean literally everyone, including Verizon – has changed their tune and embraced the ‘layer cake’ approach we pioneered, using all spectrum bands for 5G.

Just last week, we <a href="https://twitter.com/NevilleRay/status/1282841277541670913">marked</a> the end of the 39-month 600 MHz spectrum transition with the FCC. My team worked closely with the FCC and broadcasters over the last three years to clear and deploy this spectrum in record time, paving the way for new LTE coverage across the U.S. and enabling the launch of the first and only nationwide 5G network. No other 5G signal goes farther – in fact, we recently completed the world’s <a href="https://twitter.com/NevilleRay/status/1277738097330044929">farthest-ever 5G connection</a> – 60 miles from the base station! And as part of the final stage of clearing, we are lighting up 600 MHz 5G for customers in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Richmond, Va., Topeka, Kan., Sussex County, Del., and coming soon in Buffalo, N.Y.

Following the close of the merger with Sprint, one of the first things we did was open up nationwide LTE to millions of Sprint customers, giving them access to significantly greater coverage in metro, suburban and rural areas, both indoors and out. On top of this, we made the largest, nationwide 5G network in the country also available to Sprint customers, with service in nearly 6,000 cities and towns covering 225 million people across over one million square miles. Following these changes, data usage is significantly up, call quality has dramatically improved and we’re seeing an uptick in Sprint customers’ network satisfaction.

Our team is also rapidly deploying critical mid-band 2.5 GHz spectrum from Sprint. This adds tremendous depth to our broad, nationwide 5G network, increasing capacity and boosting speeds for customers. The performance of mid-band 5G is incredible, with testing showing average download speeds over 300+ Mbps and peak speeds hitting an eye-popping <a href="https://www.pcmag.com/news/t-mobile-busts-gigabit-barrier-with-mid-band-new-york-city-5g">1200 Mbps</a>! Today, I’m proud to announce that mid-band 5G is now live in parts of Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, following its earlier debut in Philadelphia and New York. If you have a 5G phone, keep an eye out for those 5G speed boosts as we light up more 2.5 GHz sites daily across the country!

We’re also hard at work getting ready to light up standalone 5G this quarter, having <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/news/press/t-mobile-achieves-a-worlds-first-with-standalone-5g-data-session">recently completed</a> the world’s first standalone 5G data session on a multi-vendor radio and core network, and the first standalone 5G data session of any kind in North America. Standalone 5G will expand our coverage and bring with it improved latency and faster uploads. It will also pave the way for applications that require real-time responses and massive connectivity such as mobile augmented and virtual reality, cloud gaming, smart factories and meters and even connected vehicles.

Today, T-Mobile already holds more low and mid-band spectrum than AT&T and Verizon combined. Over time, we will also be phasing out legacy technologies to free up even more spectrum nationwide for LTE and 5G. Looking ahead, we can do so much more with that capacity. We’ve already begun expanding our <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/news/network/t-mobile-expands-home-internet-pilot-in-grand-rapids">home broadband pilot</a>. Starting in Grand Rapids, MI, we’ve opened up the program to non-T-Mobile customers for the first time. Early results demonstrate how badly home broadband needs more competition. Average NPS (net promoter scores – a measure of customer satisfaction) for T-Mobile Home Internet are 64 in the pilot phase versus -74 (yes, that’s a negative 74) for legacy home ISP services. But there’s good news. With the capacity of the 5G network we’re building, we plan to offer T-Mobile Home Internet in more than 50% of U.S. zip codes – many in rural areas where home broadband is too slow and expensive with abysmal customer service.

I’m incredibly proud of the work that the combined team is doing to come together, unify our assets and deliver on this incredible mission! Today more than ever we see the vital role technology plays keeping us connected and allowing us to adapt quickly to change. In a matter of weeks, some healthcare providers have shifted to a telemedicine model, schools and universities have converted to online classrooms, restaurants have pivoted to delivery and pick-up only models and millions of workers from businesses of all sizes have moved from physical to virtual offices. T-Mobile for example, transitioned more than 12,000 care experts out of call centers and into their homes in just a few weeks.

As remarkable as this has been, we are just scratching the surface as we face a new normal. With technologies like 5G, we will dramatically change this country’s infrastructure to do even more.

Remote biomedical monitoring and detection, virtual-reality classrooms and boardrooms, smart factories and on-demand drone delivery systems. 5G networks will power services that someday change nearly every facet of how we live, work and play, by connecting people and things at tremendous scale.

First, you need a 5G network with capacity AND breadth. That’s exactly why T-Mobile and Sprint joined forces … so the Un-carrier can create a transformative nationwide 5G network that will supercharge innovation in the U.S. We call it #5GforAll, but it is more than a great hashtag. 5G for All is like an operating system for the wireless future – a platform for innovation on which creators can build a diverse ecosystem of 5G products and services. Smartphone apps for LTE revolutionized the mobile economy in ways no one could have predicted. The same will be true with 5G, but at a much greater scale across all industries. It will be the innovators, developers and entrepreneurs that make this magic happen.

T-Mobile will help fuel this ecosystem – not just by delivering 5G for All, but also through a range of initiatives to identify, nurture and support innovators across industries. As we begin this journey, I’m excited for my team to kick-off two initiatives – the 5G Open Innovation Lab and T-Mobile Accelerator.

5G Open Innovation Lab Today, we are teaming-up with the <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/content/t-mobile/corporate/news/articles/2020/05/tmobile-intel-nasa-launch-5g-open-innovation-lab.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">5G Open Innovation Lab</a> as a founding partner with Intel and NASA working with Amazon Web Services, Google and others to bring developers, start-ups, enterprises, academia and government institutions together. Here we will focus on emerging applications for edge computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and more, developing groundbreaking applications and services that unleash the potential of 5G networks.

The Lab has selected a first round of 17 companies to participate in a 12-week virtual program. Participants are at various stages of development and all have initiated fundraising including Series A rounds of $15 million or more. The Lab is initially focused on companies that are developing emerging 5G applications and services within the agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare and entertainment industries.

T-Mobile Accelerator We also just began working with six amazing startups focused on AI, drones, robotics, autonomous vehicles and more. They have been <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/content/t-mobile/corporate/news/articles/2020/05/2020-t-mobile-accelerator-startups-will-showcase-5G-innovation.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">selected</a> for the T-Mobile Accelerator, a program that brings innovative companies and leaders at T-Mobile together to develop and commercialize new applications and solutions for 5G. This is a continuation of the award-winning Sprint Accelerator which began in 2014. The Accelerator, located in the smart city corridor of Kansas City, serves as a hub for corporate innovation and entrepreneurial engagement, and we’re excited to add this program to the T-Mobile portfolio of incubator efforts.

In addition, we continue to operate the <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/news/5g-device-lab" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">T-Mobile Launch Pad</a> innovation center, home to the Un-carrier's device and network labs as well as <a href="https://techexperience.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tech Experience</a>. The Launch Pad is where engineers develop next-generation wireless technologies, and Tech Experience gives visitors a chance to interact with the latest advancements.

While we are fortunate to be headquartered in the Seattle area alongside some of the most vibrant technology leaders in the world, we are also reaching out to the best and brightest minds in the country via other accelerators, as well as incubators and universities.

We are working harder than ever to build a transformative 5G network that will serve all Americans. But we must build something bigger than ourselves – an ecosystem that goes well-beyond the realm of traditional telecom. It will be a platform for innovation, limited only by our creativity and imagination. It’s Super Bowl time, the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6yRDblPknY" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ads are back</a> … and something remarkable is happening in wireless. Verizon has just realized who the real network competition is. After years of ignoring T-Mobile, even leaving us out of coverage map comparisons (if you think back, you may remember TV ads from them where they did not even include us!). Now, Verizon’s spending big Super Bowl bucks to advertise JUST AGAINST T-MOBILE’S 5G NETWORK. Not just against T-Mobile as a brand… but actually trying to take on our network!  Something they never even cared about before! Why? Because they finally had to admit that we’re the real network competition, especially with the New T-Mobile. And they’re absolutely right.
I feel like I should celebrate. (Honestly, I am! And you should see @NevilleRay and his team!!) Verizon’s spending big bucks to tell people T-Mobile’s 5G network – the first and only nationwide 5G network – is the one to beat. That is INCREDIBLE! Should I write someone in their marketing team a check?
But, also, their ads are just sad. Big Red hired the talented, hilarious Jenny Slate (love you, Jenny!) to do some ‘man on the street’ interviews, comparing their 4G LTE network to T-Mobile’s 5G. That’s right, while the rest of the world has their eye on 5G, they want you to focus on 4G! Don’t get me wrong. 4G has transformed our lives, and we’ve been at the forefront of LTE innovation … but 5G is the future. Verizon has become the sad ex-high school quarterback who’s now living in his mom’s basement, trying to squeeze into that old letterman’s jacket and relive his heydays. “Hey, remember 4G? Remember, guys?” It’s honestly sad to watch.

Face it. Verizon peaked in 2007. And they’re terrified that people are catching on.
Where’d it all go wrong?
For years, Verizon was the platinum network. I’ll give them that. Then we got LTE and built a more modern, faster LTE network that could go neck and neck for 99% of Americans, but it’s been very much a battle.
Then, came this: Verizon bet wrong on the 5G future. They bet big on millimeter wave 5G, and that was a bad bet. It hasn’t scaled like they thought it would. So Verizon customers are forced to pay a premium for sad, spotty coverage in random parts of some areas of some cities. Just look at Hard Rock stadium in Miami. Big Red spent <a href="https://www.androidcentral.com/verizon-spends-80-million-cover-super-bowl-5g-mmwaves" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">80 million dollars</a> to boost their spotty 5G in a single stadium. 80 MILLION for a few thousand square feet and it’s STILL hard to find a signal! Imagine if they tried to cover an entire city … or state … or even the whole country.

And when you do find a 5G signal, you need to dodge obstacles like walls, hot dog stands and other people. Even waving your hand in front of the phone can cause the signal to crap out. Hey, down in front! Hope nobody starts the wave at the big game…</div>

Verizon bet wrong on 5G, and they know it. They’re stuck. They’re desperate … because really what is the Verizon brand except ‘network’? If they lose that, they’re toast.
Now they’re trying to advertise their way out of a crappy strategy.
While Verizon spends massive marketing budget trying desperately to relive their glory days and convince people their 5G is right, T-Mobile remains focused on the future. We already have 5G coverage they simply can’t match anytime soon - the ONLY nationwide 5G network which covers more than 1 million square miles and reaches over 200 million people. Unlike Verizon 5G that can get blocked by basically anything and covers spotty patches of outdoor areas in just 34 cities, T-Mobile 5G provides far-reaching coverage that can go through walls and works indoors and out … in more than 5,000 cities and towns all across the country. That’s about 147x more than Verizon. T-Mobile 5G is #5GThatWorks. Just ask <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6yRDblPknY">Anthony Anderson’s mama</a>.
Plus, we still have unused low-band spectrum to light up with 5G … and nationwide millimeter wave spectrum to add super-fast hotspot-like coverage in some areas. And we’re poised to give our customers a network Verizon can only dream of should the merger with Sprint move forward with spectrum that will add breadth and speed across the country. (I know they don’t want THAT to happen, because we’ll be an even tougher competitor then!) On top of all that … we’re not charging a dollar more for 5G access, which goes against everything Verizon stands for. Should I go on?
I say keep those ads coming, Verizon, I’m a big fan! And while you stay focused on what once was, at T-Mobile, we’ll keep facing the other direction — the future. Building the biggest and best 5G network in the country! And we won’t stop.

It’s the biggest sporting holiday and the most-watched TV event almost every single year. While seven in ten teachers in the U.S. assign online homework to students, roughly 15 percent of the 35 million households in America with children don’t have internet access at home. This aspect of the digital divide in this country has created the “homework gap,” with studies showing that students without home internet access have a consistent pattern of lower scores in reading, math and science.
“I think this notion of connectivity in the digital divide, this is an educational justice issue,” says Paul Gothold, superintendent of schools for San Diego County, who estimates that some 30 percent of his students fall on the wrong side of the digital divide. “Something that many of us take for granted is not available to every kid, and we have to do whatever it takes to change that. We have to make sure that every kid has access.”
But he’s quick to point out that schools across the country, in both urban and rural areas, are often hindered in what they can do given lack of funding and budget constraints. Reaching “educational justice and equity for all of our kids” is going to take a combined and collaborative effort.
“Schools can't do this by ourselves,” he says. “We need to have partnerships with private and public entities to give our kids exactly what they need and deserve. The private and public partnerships are absolutely paramount and critical.”
To that end, T-Mobile announced that with the combined assets of a completed merger with Sprint that will create the New T-Mobile, the future company will create <a href="t-mobile.com/uncarrier" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Project 10Million</a>, a program designed to eradicate the homework gap by making a pledge worth $10 billion over the next five years that will deliver free internet access to 10 million households around the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as an additional $700 million commitment in hardware, which will include mobile hotspots. Additionally, it will offer the option to these same families to purchase select Wi-Fi enabled devices at the company’s cost.
“I’ve worked with thousands of students all over the country when it comes to digital learning and bridging the digital divide,” says Dr. Keisha Taylor, national education administrator for T-Mobile, who says that programs like Project 10Million will level the playing field for all students. “It’s not that they don’t have the ability to learn, it’s that they really don’t have the access to the information. And I think that’s what we’re really responsible for. Innovative technology should improve the state of humankind.”

In life-and-death situations, first-responders are more reliant on their mobile devices and networks than ever before.
“Mobile devices and network services provide critical situational awareness and interactive communications capabilities to first responders,” says Jonathan H. Lewin, Chief of the Chicago Police Department’s Bureau of Technical Services, who’s combined technology with policework to see a <a href="https://www.govtech.com/top-25/Jonathan-Lewin.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">21% reduction in violent crime citywide</a> over the last decade.

In one district, we are piloting individual assignment of smartphones to all working officers to provide an added benefit of connectivity to Body Worn Cameras (BWCs), enabling these officers to view and categorize their own captured video directly from the field. The Chicago Police Department is placing a big emphasis on expanding our mobility program for first responders.”

As text-obsessed as we’ve become as a society, there’s still an argument to be made for making a human connection. Here, our digital etiquette expert offers 10 tips on how to perfect the art of mobile communication.
With more ways to communicate on our phones than ever before, it’s no surprise that the etiquette around choosing a method to deliver your message is far from clear. A text often seems exceedingly more convenient than a phone call, but, as our digital etiquette expert, <a href="https://www.elaineswann.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Elaine Swann</a>, explains, texting is not always appropriate.

<h3>When to Text</h3>
Good News: Swann’s rules here are simple: “If it’s big news you’re texting, it should only be good news,” Swann says, “like I got the job, we got the house, etc.” It’s also okay to text if people are awaiting an update, like if someone is having surgery. An example would be, “We’re at the hospital, keep us in your thoughts.” You can follow-up with a call later.
Logistics Coordination: According Swann, daily situations involving logistics — directions, arrival times, departure times, etc. — are always better suited to a text message, as the recipient will have the information easily at hand on their mobile device should they need to review it.
Requests / Favors: Swann notes that it’s perfectly fine to send a “Running late, could you pick me up something?” request that involves daily routines like procuring food or running errands.
If You Can’t Talk: This is a perfectly acceptable — and common — situation to send a text that you’ll call the person back when you’re free.  
<h3>When to Talk</h3>
Not-So-Good News: When news is life-changing, and not in a good way, Swann says this should always be a phone call.
When You’re Concerned About Someone: “If you kind of get the feeling that a person is taking a little mental break, it’s fine to text to touch base letting them know you’re thinking of them,” Swann says. “But, if you’re gravely concerned about their wellbeing, then a phone call is more appropriate.”
When There’s Lots to Say: Typically, Swann says, you should try to respond in the same manner that you were contacted. However, if you receive a text and have a lengthy response, it would be more appropriate to call the person instead of text back.
To Clarify an Increasingly Difficult Thread: “We all know that technology doesn’t always translate everything well,” Swann says. “Instead of sending three or four text messages to clarify something, it’s a good idea to call someone and shore up those details.”
When You're Driving: One instance where you should not text, under any circumstances, is of course when you’re driving. If you’re able to use your device hands-free, call the person and tell them you’re on the road and can’t text back.
Asking Someone Out on a Date: “This should always be a phone call,” Swann says. “The same goes for breaking up with someone.”

 Today, we hear from Mariana Beckham, an experienced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with <a href="https://www.trimedambulance.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tri-Med Ambulance,</a> a private ambulance company that has been serving the greater Seattle area since 1995. Starting out with just a trio of ambulances, Tri-Med now runs an impressive fleet of 35 state-of-the-art ambulances that are exclusively contracted with multiple Fire Departments throughout Puget Sound — and depended upon at the most crucial of times.
“5G stands to revolutionize emergency medical care,” says Beckham, “saving critical time, and, in turn, helping first responders save lives.”
Beckham offers key insights as to how 5G will revolutionize emergency response for Tri-Med and EMTs everywhere.
What will 5G mean for an ambulance responding to an emergency situation? 
 In a life-or-death emergency situation, every split-second counts. With 5G, pretty much everything can be connected, including ambulances. Imagine if, instead of just using lights and sirens, a connected ambulance could push out alerts to individual vehicles that it’s approaching, even before a driver can see or hear it, and even communicate to streetlights, crosswalks and the roads. Other vehicles will make way sooner, improving safety and response times. 5G could very literally help clear the pathway to a whole new approach to emergency response. This will be crucial in helping an ambulance get to its destination as quickly and safely as possible. It will significantly impact our overall patient care. 5G will help us save time, which in turn will help us save lives.
How will 5G transform patient care? 
 Delivering information to a hospital is one of the most important aspects of our job. With 5G connectivity, first responders and their vehicles will be highly connected to hospitals and other emergency facilities. It will also offer an EMT or paramedic the ability to conduct high-definition ultra-sounds or X-Rays and transmit that data, and have a real-time conversation with a physician or clinician, so even more triage could happen in ambulances — well in advance of arriving at the hospital. Additionally, the information will aid decisions on which hospital the patient should be taken to, and the on-site doctors and staff will be prepared for when the patient arrives. 5G will effectively turn our emergency vehicles into emergency rooms.
Can you tell us a bit more about how a 5G-connected ambulance might look? 
 For one, augmented reality will definitely make a huge difference in our first responder situations. Connected glasses could display critical information for an EMT. The patient’s medical history and medications, their allergies, age, blood pressure, heartrate, oxygen levels — augmented reality will be a breakthrough tool in setting up first responders with that life-saving data.
5G-connected monitors will be able to call for help. Some patients with a severe medical condition will have embedded or wearable monitors, capable of informing first responders and doctors of their condition and history. So let’s say someone with a heart condition collapses. Her monitor would detect the fall and immediately alert emergency dispatch. An ambulance specifically equipped and staffed with first responders trained for heart attacks and cardiac arrest would be sent to her location. They would have life-saving medication — specifically prescribed to that patient — ready to administer the moment they arrive.
What other sorts of life-saving breakthroughs will 5G usher in for emergency response? 
 I think in the near future, 5G-connected drones will play a critical role in emergency response. With 5G there won’t be any lag time with what the drone sees to what the drone operator sees. We’ll be able to safely fly life-saving equipment or medications beyond line-of-sight, directly reaching a patient, wherever they are. For example, an AED (portable defibrillator) for someone having a heart attack or an EpiPen for someone who is having a severe allergic reaction. Imagine if we were able to help a hiker who is stranded where we just can’t get an ambulance to them. With 5G-connected drones, we’d be able to locate and survey disaster areas, locate victims and provide water and other crucial supplies that are necessary for survival. In a life-and-death situation, just a few seconds changes everything. 5G will expand the horizons of what’s possible today and help first responders of tomorrow set new ones — and very literally soar beyond them.

I’ve said <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/news/what-is-your-5g-future" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">a lot</a> about how the New T-Mobile will have the resources to create a world-leading 5G network, and today I want to emphasize how important that is for our country and everyone in it. The stakes are high, and we need to get this right.
Just as 4G enabled innovators in the U.S. to create the Ubers, Lyfts, Snaps and Venmos of the world, 5G will usher in a whole new wave of innovation. And this is innovation that can come from anywhere! Who’s to say that the next groundbreaking app is going to be created in the middle of a huge city center? America is full of innovative minds. We are much more likely to lead as a country in the next industrial revolution if more people have access to the technology that allows them to innovate wherever they are located – and that is why it’s so important to deliver 5G across the entire country. There are brilliant people in every corner of the U.S. – from small towns to big cities – and we’ll only benefit from their ideas if they have access to the right tools.
Unfortunately, it is no surprise that there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding our proposed merger with Sprint, so it is important for me to make sure people really understand that the New T-Mobile will absolutely be GOOD for innovation and good for consumers. It will ensure that 5G reaches people across the entire country and that the opportunity to build on the 5G future is second to none!
The New T-Mobile will build 5G for All 
 Current 5G networks in the U.S. aren’t anything to write home about. That’s because they’re mostly focused on high-band millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, which doesn’t travel far from the cell site and is blocked by things like trees, windows and doors. It’s a massively important part of 5G, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just that – a PART. We’ve been clear all along… real, game-changing 5G will require a range of spectrum – low, mid and high – and only the New T-Mobile will be able to deliver it:

<li>We’ve got the high-band spectrum with mmWave, which delivers massive capacity over a very small footprint.</li>
<li>Later this year, when compatible smartphones launch, we’ll launch broad 5G on our low-band 600 MHz spectrum, providing the wide area coverage necessary to reach across America. </li>
<li>If regulators approve our merger with Sprint, we’ll have the crucial mid-band spectrum (2.5 GHz), which provides the balance of coverage and capacity that enables a seamless and meaningful 5G experience. <a href="https://www.ctia.org/news/more-mid-band-spectrum-is-key-to-u-s-5g-leadership" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mid-band spectrum is key</a> to providing an ideal mix of coverage and capacity for 5G networks, and the combination of Sprint’s mid-band and our low-band will allow New T-Mobile to use both spectrum more efficiently, increasing capacity even more.</li>
</ul>
 
The Other Guys don’t share our 5G vision. 
 If we leave it up to the Other Guys, the U.S. could very well fall behind in the 5G race. That’s because, while we’re focused on actually BUILDING <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/4g-lte-5g-networks" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer">5G for All</a> with the New T-Mobile, they’ve been locked in a meaningless race just to claim they’re “first”.
AT&T calls itself a world leader in 5G, but customers STILL can’t sign up for their 5G service. First, AT&T claimed to offer 5G on a puck, <a href="https://venturebeat.com/2019/06/06/att-declares-itself-world-leader-in-5g-despite-0-consumer-devices/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">yet nobody could buy it</a>. And now, they’re going to sell the <a href="https://www.slashgear.com/att-galaxy-s10-5g-released-but-not-for-you-12580261/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S10 5G to businesses and developers ONLY</a>. If you want 5G, and you’re a typical AT&T customer, you’re outta luck… But hey, if you just want to see that 5G icon on the phone, they’ve got 5GE logo (which is essentially the same old LTE you’ve always had… don’t let them fool you)!
Verizon is focused on mmWave, and despite the well-known limitations, they added a $10 premium for customers who tap into the next-gen network. After a flood of complaints, they <a href="https://www.pcworld.com/article/3391069/verizon-samsung-galaxy-s10-5g-preorder-20-city-5g-expansion-price-preorder-release.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">decided</a> to “temporarily” credit that charge back, and in the same breath started forcing people who want 5G onto their most expensive plans.
All this AND both still refuse to publish coverage maps so their customers know where their limited 5G is. It’s clear Verizon and AT&T are trying to stick with the same old broken status quo. As the Un-carrier, we’ve done so much to fix the broken, arrogant wireless industry already – but we are not done. What the Other Guys are pulling on price, lack of transparency and outright lies about 5G – really threatens to take us a step backward in this new era. If you’re not alarmed by what they’re doing, then you’re not paying attention. The New T-Mobile will have the resources, the spectrum and the assets to drive even bigger, bolder changes for consumers all over the country.
Real 5G from New T-Mobile will be a game-changer 
 5G is absolutely CRUCIAL for innovation. It will enable some amazing things. I’ve <a href="https://www.t-mobile.com/news/what-is-your-5g-future" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">talked about</a> ways it will transform travel and leisure, improve safety in emergency situations, even help improve health and wellness … and even more things we can’t even imagine yet.
To get a better sense of the impact 5G will have, we sought out experts in different fields to share their own visions. It’s really exciting stuff, and if you have not seen it yet… take a look:

In order for 5G to be truly transformational, these breakthroughs need to benefit more than just a few people in a few areas. And if we’re stuck with the status quo from the Other Guys, that’s what we’ll get. The same old deceptive practices, limited availability and higher prices. And by the way, speaking of prices. The New T-Mobile is committed to 5G for All that really means just that. This is not 5G for just the affluent. Consumers of all income scales will benefit from it, including those who are value conscious.
