Call from any phone on any line on the T-Mobile network. Use it in the U.S. or in select countries abroad when connected to our international partner networks.

Press *87*

Once connected, enter *87* and wait for the voice confirmation.

  • T-Mobile Live Translation helps people talk naturally across different languages during phone calls. There’s no app to download or set up—it’s built into the T-Mobile network, and works on the phone you already use. Conversations are translated in real time, so both people can speak comfortably in their preferred language.

  • Once Live Translation is turned on during a call by dialing *87*, it listens and translates as you speak, helping each person hear the conversation in their preferred language. It all happens quickly and seamlessly, so the conversation keeps flowing.

  • Live Translation is for eligible T-Mobile members who want conversations to feel easier across languages—including people who speak limited English, families and friends who speak different languages, travelers, and small business owners connecting with multilingual customers.

  • Most translation tools require apps, logins, or special devices. Live Translation is built into the T-Mobile network, so it works seamlessly during your phone calls—no switching apps, no extra steps, and no new accounts. It’s designed to feel simple, natural, and easy to use.

  • The service works on any T-Mobile phone connected to 4G LTE or 5G without needing an app or software update. Only one phone connected to the call has to be on the T-Mobile network for translation to work.

  • Live Translation works anywhere you have T‑Mobile 4G or 5G voice coverage, including calling to 200+ countries and roaming in 85+ countries where 4G or 5G coverage is available.

  • Here’s the quick rundown:

    • Waitlist updates. After you sign up, we’ll keep you posted while you wait. Once you’re in, you’ll get a notification with all the details and next steps.

    • Early access, early quirks. Hiccups may happen as we keep enhancing the experience. That’s part of being first.

  • You’re one of the first to try Live Translation, and we want to hear from you. Here’s how to get help fast:

    • Start right here. Check the overview and tools on this page for quick answers and setup tips. You can also visit the Live Translation Support page.

    • Try a quick fix. If translation didn’t activate or the call dropped, dial *87* again after the call connects, check your network, and try once more. Live Translation works on standard person-to-person calls, not 911, 988, voicemail, conference calls, or apps like FaceTime or WhatsApp.

    • Tell us how it went. If the translation sounded off or missed a dialect, head to the Manage tab in the T-Life app and submit feedback.
