connect tv to home tmobile gatewey

I do not have smart tv.  My Tmobile gateway home internet is working.  I have a Roku.  My TV is currently connected to our out-dated cable internet.  I know I need/want to cut the cable.  Then how do I connect my TV to tmobile gateway home internet.

Thank you

Denise

  • Some of the older Roku devices only connect on the 2.4 GHz radio and will not connect on the 5 GHz so you need to identify the Roku model, check the specifications for the network connection and with the T-Mobile gateway you might have to work with it a bit to get it to connect. You might need to add another SSID on the 2.4 GHz or separate the existing 2.4 GHz radio from the 5 GHz high and low band radios to get the Roku to connect on the 2.4 GHz, if that is what it does, and stay connected.

Adding some streaming devices and older printers that do not support WI-FI 6 can be a bit of work. It takes a bit more effort with some of the older devices that have a prior version of wireless. Knowing the details of the devices will become important should you “cut the cable” and leverage a T-Mobile gateway.

  • If you don’t have a “smartTV” then you are delivering streaming content to the TV from the Roku?
