Access admin on gateway G4SE

I got service a couple days ago. When I type the IP address on the back of the unit, it doesn't ask for the admin password as written on gateway itself, it just logs me in right away to a simple web page that says "connection status" but has no menu options to access the gateway settings, so I can't see settings or make any changes. How do I access the admin area to see all the gateway settings, wifi settings, etc?

  • I'll try and report back. They need to allow this for at least a wired PC connection. It's not like someone outside your home can connect that way.

Has anyone had success with the Hint Control App?

It is supposed to get you into your gateway.  I so far have not got it to work. Keep getting message that the password is incorrect.  I have a model G4AR gateway.

There really isn't much of an admin area -- very few settings can be changed if you're comparing to a full-featured WiFi router or something like an ADSL modem from AT&T.

If I recall correctly, you can enter the admin page from a browser by adding "/admim/ to the URL, but all it allows you to do is manually install a system update.

I should probably have added that I'm using the 5688W gateway, which is the current entry-level offering from T-Mobile.

I did talk to someone in tech support about my wanting admin access, and none of their three options allow that, so I'm guessing that the user access is the same on all models.

The reply from nc1037 is correct with respect to the few things which you can change.

I guess I was so used to the AT&T router with access to everything. It's too bad it's not like that, at least on an ethernet connected desktop PC. T-Mobile, if you see this at least make that possible.

You need to use the T Life app on your phone or tablet.

T Life app has no option to manage/admin the gateway either
