Re: Access admin on gateway G4SE
I should probably have added that I'm using the 5688W gateway, which is the current entry-level offering from T-Mobile. I did talk to someone in tech support about my wanting admin access, and none of their three options allow that, so I'm guessing that the user access is the same on all models. The reply from nc1037 is correct with respect to the few things which you can change.194Views0likes1CommentRe: Access admin on gateway G4SE
There really isn't much of an admin area -- very few settings can be changed if you're comparing to a full-featured WiFi router or something like an ADSL modem from AT&T. If I recall correctly, you can enter the admin page from a browser by adding "/admim/ to the URL, but all it allows you to do is manually install a system update.212Views1like2CommentsOptions using non-T-Mobile modems for home internet
I just signed up for the basic home internet service and it seems to be working fine. But I'm not happy with the modem they provided, the Sagemcom Fast 5688W Gateway because there is virtually no administration/configuration access. The main thing I'd like to do is turn off the WiFi radios, but it'd also be useful to be able to change the broadcast channels and create a list of approved MAC addresses. (I already have a mesh router system which I'd like to use for WiFi instead.) Are there devices on the market I can buy which would work with the T-Mobile service and give me more control? Just as a point of reference, my only other experience has been with the Arris products used by AT&T. They provide extensive options for configuring, including the option to turn off the radios. Thanks.216Views4likes2Comments
