data plans for smartwatch

I just got a Galaxy Watch 7 in July and briefly used a Garmin before that. Didn't have a plan for either, but was still able to successfully and accurately sync with phone apps once reconnected. I've been impressed by the sync accuracy. Works even if I'm charging the watch and carrying my phone for step counts.
Is it possible to add a plan for my Galaxy Watch 7? Everything I opt for on the app or website leads me to buying a watch, which I already have.
