Give me a Motorola Moto G Stylus 2025!
So, my list of wants are: SMS satellite connectivity. Headphone Jack. FM radio tuner. Good screen. Good speakers. At least 256GB storage. A micro SD card slot would be a nice touch. The Motorola Stylus has all of those! Why should I not get one right now?45Views0likes1CommentRe: Can I Opt Out of the new Starlink Program?
And why should all carriers pool their resources and provide equivalent services? Has anyone offered T-Mobile an alternative satellite service? Do you know for sure that AT&T or Verizon would share their satellite services with T-Mobile for a reasonable price? And can you guarantee that the CEO of whatever alternative satellite service won't suddenly become a politician himself?58Views0likes0CommentsRe: Can I Opt Out of the new Starlink Program?
I don't know if T-Mobile can back out. AT&T and Verizon have already announced their plans to bring satellite capability to their customers. From what I understand T-Mobile started working on this deal a couple of years ago, long before Elon switched from an EV guru to the political stuff he's been up to the past few of months. For T-Mobile to just drop their partnership with Starlink and start from zero would be saying to their customers that if they want satellite capability, go to AT&T or Verizon. I'm not telling you what to do, do what you want. But I do worry that T-Mobile could be either done for or done for.1.2KViews2likes2CommentsRe: Can I Opt Out of the new Starlink Program?
As far as satellite service alternatives go, AT&T, and apparently Verizon, have announced partnership with AST SpaceMobile. The service should offer more than just texting, even the ability to have video calls. However, there is no price or rollout date that I know of with either AT&T or Verizon. Another alternative would be something like the Garmin InReach which starts at around $15/month but requires a separate device costing a few hundred dollars. Personally I'm not going to boycott T-Mobile. I don't have a satellite compatible phone, as mine is too old, and I don't have the GO5G plan either. I am interested in satellite texting for emergencies, but all this politics and the world melting down and this early period of testing satellite on smartphones I guess means I'll wait and see how things turn out. I have no idea who the CEO of AST SpaceMobile is or how he or she compares to Elon Musk.201Views0likes0CommentsRe: I want Starlink, so... Moto G Power 2024?
Well, is buying a Volkswagen a vote for bringing back the Nazi regime? I mean, the Volkswagen was kind of Hitler's idea. But your opinion is fair enough. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I'm not for Musk as president not do am I comfortable with what's going on with him in politics. But that doesn't mean he (or should I say the company he's currently the CEO of) can't make good cars or satellite services. For all I know he might make a good cordon bleu too.258Views0likes0CommentsRe: I want Starlink, so... Moto G Power 2024?
So you're saying, because of politics... it makes more sense for me to lug around a cell phone, a portable radio and a $400 Garmin inReach and pay up to some $50 per month to Garmin for a feature I only really need every once in a great while... instead of a single $200 phone that, depending on my phone plan, may not cost me a thing at all each month?8Views0likes0CommentsRe: Can I Opt Out of the new Starlink Program?
It also depends on your phone. If your phone doesn't have a satellite antenna, then the only way to send information would be through the internet, which I'm not sure if that's going to happen or not. Another thing too is that satellite communications aren't easy to do. For the signal to reach the satellite and send data from your 1/2 watt powered phone you need to align up your phone and it can take a long time to even just send a simple text message. So worrying that your phone is sending data to a satellite service all the time sounds kind of impossible.1.7KViews1like0Comments
