Side by Side Comparison of Two Arcadian KVD21 Gateways
Like many customers, the honeymoon is over.
The performance of my Tmobile Home Internet is not usable in the evening. Over the past months, it has continually degraded. When originally installed last year, its performance was stunning.
I am confident that the tower that I attach to is over sold. Cellmapper.net is a great resource for this work.
Fortunately, I have a friend with the same internet service and the exact same gateway.
As an experiment, I brought my gateway to the friends house and compared my gateway performance against the other gateway. Both were sitting within inches of each other. My friends easily performed at 150 Mbits/S and mine was only 20% of that. Had their performance been with 35% of each other, I could rationalize that but not 5X.
Two possibilities: 1) My gateway is defective. 2) My service is throttled.

Interesting. Seems pretty odd for sure. Another question: are both routers used such they consume similar amounts of monthly data? Is it possible you are consuming vastly more data than your friend..and are therefore assign a lower priority? Not throttling per se, but a lower priority than other users?

It is also possible you are assigned to 2 different towers. Have you checked the T-mobile Internet App to check that?
Thank you.
The chart shows the CGI during this experiment and it indicates that the same tower is used. Its a bit hard to read. By the way, if you strip the upper six digits and divide by 256, you get the eNB tower indicator reported by cellmapper.net. This can be used to find the tower in use.
