home internet service gateway
249 TopicsSlow Ethernet, fast WiFi
I'm having an issue with my Nokia gateway, connected to the Gateway WIFI I get over 400mbs. But connected to my router which is connected to the back of the gateway I only get top 160mbs. Is this a big in the firmware? I would get super fast speeds before on my router and all of a sudden they stop. I have used different WIFI 6 routers and still the same issue. Different cable, same issue. I even tried a different gateway, same issue. Is TMobile doing this on purpose to force customers to use their integrated WIFI. Anything will help.1.1KViews1like7CommentsDisabling SIP/ALG on my new Tmobile Home Internet - FAST5688W
I’ve been running my work IP phone for over months with T-Mobile Home Internet with no change and all the sudden my desk phone will no longer work. WOrking with my company (we deploy this phone service) it appears that SIP/ALG may be the issue but can’t find anything about disabling it on the Tmobile router. I’ll need to get this resolved of will have to go back to a fiber connection.812Views1like3Comments5G Home Internet nightly slow down
Hey all, I’ve had the black 5G gateway for a couple days now, and have been a T-Mobile customer for just as long. I guess the issue I’m having is looking like one that a lot of other people are as well. During the day my gateway pulls about 500 Mbps and has a “Very Good” signal. Without moving or changing anything about the setup, usage area, or anything, around 8PM Eastern my speeds go down to MAX 5 Mbps. Nothing has changed other than the time of the day. I have a ticket open for the “local engineering department” to troubleshoot. It’ll randomly be good during the night and then go back to the unusable 5 Mbps. I relayed this to Customer Care, and while they seem sympathetic to the plight, they ultimately just want me to continuously restart the gateway so they can reconnect it to the tower because it has “stopped communicating.” Is this the common reply that everyone is getting? Restart on restart while waiting for engineers to troubleshoot your wifi, only tothen get told you need to restart to be reconnected to the tower, and then ultimately a factory default when they’ve exhausted their checklist?21KViews17likes63CommentsChange Password and Name of Home Network
I just got T-Mobile internet and after connecting it all up I want to change the factory given password as well asthe name that shows up as my network. Using the I.P. address hasn’t worked. Customer service chat said to go to the “network” page but didnt’ say where that was. I have looked through out the website and app and cannot find where I can login as an admin to make this simple change. I did happen upon a T-Mobile page that said by clicking “here” I would be able to do this, but it’s just a page that shows I’m connected. I just made this switch for internet and I”m wondering if I made a mistake… I have a Gateway Modem, White, stands up...Solved1.3KViews0likes5Comments"Secure Connection Failed" Error after 1.03.20 Update
I have the G4SE router which had been working pretty well until recently. I like many others had the VPN disconnection issue that was recently fixed with the 1.03.20 firmware update. While this update did fix my VPN disconnection issue, it did introduce a brand new issue. I am able to connect to my VPN, and access my email, and internal company messaging systems like Teams. However, my internet connection is now being blocked from accessing any internal company sites, systems, or shared drivers or folders. I receive the following error message below "Secure Connection Failed" Error Code: PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR "The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified" I have never received this message before with any T-Mobile gateways, and it only occurred after this latest firmware update. I have tried both Wifi, and ethernet connection to the gateway. I have reset the gateway and played with somewindows settings but haven't found a solution. Has anyone else had this problem after this update? Any suggested fixes?272Views1like3CommentsT-Mobile Home Internet setup video
Good day, As a user of T-Mobile Home Internet (TMHI), and someone who answers questions about the setup in this forum, I thought it might be helpful to post a few videos on the setup. There are many setup videos available, but the one linked below seems easy to follow and understand. For advanced users, you will find it boring. NOTE: if you are in an area where a T-Mobile cell tower is not close, your signal and performance may not be adequate and this service may not be for you. However for me and many others, we are within about 1-2 miles (line of sight) of our cell tower for 5G service. If so, you should get “4-5 bars” and get over 75 - 150+ Mbps download speeds. Also - you can change your SSID / wifi network name and password (please do so) during the setup process when using the T0Mobile Internet app to setup your new gateway/device. And, with the second video, if the user would have rotated his gateway a few degrees and waited and check his signal, he would have probably seen a signal improvement (the 5G antennas are located at the corners of the gateway). Most users find that using the process of rotate - check speed/bars - repeat, provide good results. Finally, use the include app function to set the gateway/device close to a window and inline with your cell tower (placement function in the internet app). I used “share location” and “camera” to point your camera in the direction of the cell tower in your area...seemed to work well. I hope this helps the greater TMHI community. Did it help you setup your T-Mobile gateway? What are your speeds (speedswill vary based on your location)? All the best!2.7KViews6likes14Comments5g home internet - some sites won't load
My big gray cylinder 5G Home internet has good signal and works reliably. But some percent of websites I visit simply refuse to load via the TMo 5g device, yet they work fine if I use my Verizon cellphone data, or a coaxial cable modem (which I have not canceled service on yet). I am guessing it’s either a DNS issue between my Mac and the T-Mobile cylinder (eg: settings requiring technical help or updates), or a problem in the T-Mo network that is blocking some sites. After spending too many hours on the phone already with Tmo tech support for 5G Home, I am not excited about the prospect of engaging on the phone again. It takes too long, and the agents need more training and support. Has anyone experienced and solved this issue? Do you have technical insights? Is there actual written documentation somewhere that I could access? Thank you. (Honestly Tmo, you need to rethink your support infrastructure for 5G Home.)12KViews4likes80CommentsSag FAST 5688W T-Life Device Error
After 3 or 4 days of the gateway being up I can’t log into it via the T-Life app. Displays a Device Error message. I then have to reboot the gateway and wait 4-5 minutes for my network to come back up and watch for devices to show up in the connected list. Is this just limited to my gateway or is anyone else having the same issue??Solved352Views0likes7CommentsGaming with T-mobile Internet Xbox series S/PC
Ever since I have used T-Mobile internet, my gaming has been mediocre at best as far as connection. My ping on Rocket league at times ranges from a standard 68-300+. I cannot even get into any games on Battlefield 2042, as it times out. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is frustrating because I can sometimes play (with terrible ping) but when I join a friend's party it kicks me out of the game. I even hosted the match and tried logging into a game, and we were both kicked. these are just a few of the issues I’ve noticed while gaming. there are times when the internet just goes out, I am on my second device. My connection to the network is great, but the internet connectivity drops more often than it should. Recently the tower near me was upgraded which helped for downloading, but competitive gaming is still a struggle? Is this something that will be fixed or will I need to switch over to a trusty Fiber connection. I like the price I am paying for T-Mobile, but at the end of the day, it’s more of a hassle. I’m basically paying for something that I can’t depend on. I have multiple games in my library that are now collecting dust because they barely function if they work at all when joining my friends online, thank you.Solved22KViews0likes7CommentsNAT/forwarding issues while gaming/streaming
Hey guys, I'm new here... I just got my gateway in yesterday... I must say, I'm highly disappointed and I only wish I researched this further before I ordered it...I've already donemultiple searches on this topic, so I'm not gonna ask the question I've been wanting to ask which was: "Why isn't my connection open NAT?", or "Why can't I port forward?". I've pretty much answered all of those questions myself by simply searching. I have taken it upon myself to call T-mobile's tech support anyways in the event that somehow a miracle is sent my way.... Fortunately for me, a very kind gentleman by the name of Alex, employee number 786457, assured me that they will be fixing the problem within a 48 hour period. I was told there will be some Beta software sent to my unit "possibly". And yes, that was the word used... Not sure how far I can believe that, seeing as how a lot of you are having issues. But anyway, this is my journey. I will post some updates here n there to let y'all know the outcome. Worst case scenario this causes me to vacate the community & the service entirely. Because this is probably one of the largest handicaps any network can have, it's almost like having parental control without it actually being implemented. Stay tuned folks, I'll let you know what happens. Hopefully this "beta" program isn't bullcucky.6.2KViews2likes33Comments
