Travelling with Gateway

If you have T-Mobile Home Internet and you travel to another location, can you bring the gateway with you? If there is a signal it should connect, right?

  • T-Mobile is going to start enforcing this. The Gateway is suppose to be stationary in your home. I believe they are expanding out a new services for people who use it on RV and travel with their Gateway.

Since you mentioned you signed up at an RV show, they you probably have the RV plan that allows you to use where ever you want. Without knowing what you paid, if one were to sign up for the RV plan today here are the details:

The original post clearly asked about “Home Internet Plan” which is suppose to be geo locked.

No.  The gateway is geolocation locked to your local towers of your service address.  It will not work outside of that area.

I have used mine at friend’s house 30 miles away as a test when he was having problems with his.  People use them in RVs.  Try it I don’t think you will have a problem.

IIt depends on the plan. Tmobile is going to lock them to the address on file using GPS on the router. If you want to use them at a different location you will need to sign up for an away plan.

Tmobile had a booth at the KC RV show last year when we got ours and they specifically stated that it will work anywhere Tmobile has service.  We have used it everywhere we travel and and hace never had issues so far.

The “will it work or not” has nothing to do with the device itself as it will technically work anywhere there is Tmobile service. The difference is all in your plan which comes with terms and conditions. The devices have built in GPS so Tmobile knows where the device is located at all times.
