Did you turn off iMessages?  If not then you may have to log out using Apple servers.  Also it’s best for your friends to delete the message group with you and start a new one because at times the app doesn’t update to not sending iMessages to numbers that logged out of iMessages.

for some reason i think you have to go into your icloud and sign your number out of it.

@tidbits  i think you were the Apple go to. am i thinking correctly on this one? if you are doing the Apple/Android change i could have sworn there was something that needed to be done on the Apple side.
