The DNS is not the greatest but does work with a router between the Trashcan and your home network. Very important that you turn off ALL DEVICES after setup and restart in this order… ALL DEVICES ON THE NETWORK NEED TO BE SET TO AUTO DNS Trashcan (takes along time to fully boot give it 10 mins) Now your router (same thing give it time to fully boot) Now you can start all other devices on the network This way they pull all the new DNS info into the devices. If this is not completed in this order your devices will have all kinds of different DNS settings. Router Setup factory reset setup WAN setup lan setup IPv6 Now you can either disable or run Pass-through if your router has this option both work The Passthrough option will give you IPv6 verification on ipv6-test.com Once complete restart the network as described at the beginning Yes I had problems with web sites not loading Amazon was one now it loads every time. I have found that the Trashcan’s web interface is better than using the crappy app but it very slow at loading the info so it seems like it’s not online or loading. Give it more time…It seems that the T-Mobile branding has slowed the device interface to a crawl too. See if the System|Upgrade button will take you from 1.2003.03.0143 to1.2003.03.0168 We’ve had ours since late Feb. It’s on1.2003.03.0168, but I can’t remember if I did the manual update or if it happened after a reboot. @wildchld: What utility are you using that shows jitter and packet loss? Try removing the useless battery then do a factory reset and see if a lot of issues go away. No Ethernet connected when doing a factory reset Use the bottom Ethernet connection instead of the top. If you don’t use the WiFi disable all 3 I don’t use the crap app anymore. Can get around it somewhat with certain VPN services, but itwill have it's limitations. Most only support P2P for certain known applications (like torrent software). The most flexible one I found (windscribe) thatallows you to set custom forwarding rules requires an extra option for reserving your IP as well, costing upwards of $16/month depending if you subscribe on annual plans or not. It seems that Nokia is building the firmware for these devices as Optus in AU is having the same issues running the same device. Even with a router that I fully control, with firewall disabled and allowing WAN icmp/ping responses T-mobile seems to continue to filter traffic (even pings!) incoming towards my service equipment…to make a fair comparison I got an AT&T SIM card and repeated the tests. On AT&T I can ping and access my device remotely when it is on the AT&T LTE network on the same Netgear LAX20. Decided to post here to vent and share some findings, as this is somewhat frustrating that other LTE carriers that do not offer ‘home internet’ service do allow you to control and manage your network as you see fit while the new “home internet” service does not give you any control at all. Those users who wish to be able to remotely manage their smart home should perhaps stay away for now until T-mobile decides to do the right thing which is for “home internet” service subscribers to have different security network rules than cellphones on the network. T-mobile please fix your business model for this new service, starting with adding the ability to request zero network filtering for home internet subscribers and the ability to get IPv6 prefix delegated. So I tried your IT’s suggestions but I have aAsus RT-N66U between my Trashcan and home network with 3rd party software on it but if anyone has a device like this between there’s the can go into settings and turn off IPv6 on the router completely. The VPN should work but it’s slow. Also this trashcan just plain sucks for pulling in a signal. This is what I have to do to get 3 bars really T-Mobile I can see the frigging tower! The speedtest is with IPv6 turned off when it’s turned back on, ping time increases, download increases, and upload stays about the same. But then no VPN. 1 simple firmware update adding bridge mode in and this piece of ---- may be worth it. More to come...3Views0likes0Comments
