50 Topics5G home internet keeps dropping
I’m having a problem with T-Mobile 5g home internet that has not been resolved despite many calls in to the help line. I’ve had T-Mobile 5g home internet for almost a month now, and the short version is that every so often the gateway drops the network. When I say “drop the network,” I mean to say it throws everything off of the Wifi that it’s broadcasting, and anything plugged in via ethernet says “no network found. (To elaborate this point, cell phones switch to cellular data because wifi is gone for them, and computers hardwired into the gateway think that they are no longer plugged into anything.) Turning off the gateway and turning it back on resolves the issue, but doesn’t prevent it from happening again. Whatever is happening doesn’t seem to affect our connection speed/strength when the gateway IS providing signal to devices in the home, but due to the nature of our work, we need a connection that won’t just disconnect randomly. To address this, T-mobile has so far run a bunch of tests on their end, and seem to have ruled out a tower issue (which makes sense, as the tower shouldn’t have anything to do with whether or not the devices on the gateway’s wifi or ethernet connection get thrown off of the network.) They’ve sent me a replacement gateway, which is experiencing the exact same problem (3 times in the last 36 hours, in fact). I’ve noticed that the device gets pretty warm, so I set up a computer case fan as a cooler to force air through the device, thinking that perhaps it’s an issue with the device overheating. However, while the gateway is notably cooler than it was without the fan, it has not prevented the issue from persisting. The last thing that I can think to do (and my most recent attempt at resolving this issue) is to plug a router into the gateway via ethernet, and allow the router to handle the wifi/connections w/ devices in the house, and to disable wifi from the gateway all together. Maybe the gateway is simply too overburdened with connections and gets somehow overwhelmed and shuts down, and having the router handle the “heavy lifting” of taking care of all of the individual device connections will resolve it? I don’t have a great deal of faith that this will fix the issue (as the gateway also kicks ethernet things off of the network when it experiences this problem), but I’m running out of options/ideas of what to do in order to just get a stable, constant internet service. Is anybody else having this issue, has anybody resolved this issue, or does anybody have any advice or feedback regarding how I might get this resolved so that I can get back to having stable internet?79KViews104likes264CommentsText Message "Not sent. Tap to try Again"
I frequently get the following error message when sending text message: “Not sent. Tap to try Again”. This happens WAY TOO often and is super frustrating. I have tried to restart my phone and power cycle with no resolution. Sometimes it can take a couple of hours and multiple “taps” to finally get the message to send. This never happened until I got a new Motorola Edge 2022 phone a few months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!21KViews4likes16CommentsCannot Reliably Connect Devices Home Internet
I just got T-Mobile Home Internet and while the speeds are great and very consistent, the internet service is not very robust. I have the 5G Grey Cylindrical router. If I try and connect Samsung TVs or my Directv box to the network, either by Wifi or wired ethernet, it often won’t connect. When the devices do connect they are unreliable. Most streaming services won’t work. The connection to the router is fine, but the connection from the T-Mobile end to the internet often just hangs. The same is true on my PC or Tablets. It all appears to work well but it’s very prone to just hanging one process as if its trying to open a connection that will never open. A good example of this is uploading videos to facebook, this almost always hangs. It never begins the upload although other processes can use the internet fine at the same time. It can USUALLY upload ok to Vimeo or Youtube but these also periodically just stall. It’s very flakey and unreliable internet. This is with wired or wifi connections, and while one program is stuck trying to open a data connection, another program on the SAME PC at the SAME time can open a data connection. It makes the entire internet unuseable and frustrating. While it generally works it’s not reliable enough to play games etc. You can be playing a game, or updating software, and all of a sudden that program will hang with 0 bytes going in or out. But if you open the browser or start a different program that uses the internet, that new program can connect and download fine while the old one is still hung. It’s all inter-related. The reason a lot of devices can’t connect very reliably is because they are doing some sort of test that shows this internet is flakey. Usually they will say something like the auto settings didn’t work and to configure the network manually. It’s very frustrating because my speeds and latency are fantastic, the connection to the T-Mobile network from the router never wavers it’s always solid. The connection via wifi never wavers its always solid. But data ports from programs often just hang and won’t open. I still have Verizon Home Internet and I switch back and forth. Verizon is MUCH slower but its reliable, I never have any issues like this with them. Even right now. Can anyone help? Is there something that T-Mobile can do on their end to make data connections work more reliably. The only thing that is really always reproduceable that demonstrates this is uploading video to Facebook, that pretty much never starts although once in every 20 or 30 tries it will start and when it does it works fine for that file. -Roger Uzun San Diego, CA8.1KViews2likes21CommentsWe frequently can't send text messages
I have multiple phones on my account, and all of them frequently can't send text messages. Failures are most common when sending between these phones. Sometime one message will be stuck "Sending", and a new message to the same recipient, with the phone in the same physical location (and 3+ bars of service) will go through. Tapping on "Not sent. Tap to try again." never works.Solved6.6KViews1like23CommentsT-Mobile Home Internet shows 4 bars but keeps dropping signal
Hi. The last month or so, a problem is occurring - the gateway/modem shows 4 bars and has been sitting there for well over two years now. Randomly, I keep getting disconnected from a game server, remote sessions halt, streaming audio stutters, everything. I also have phone calls (from Samsung S22 Ultra) disconnect on me if the phone is using wifi mode for phone calls. If I disable wifi on the phone, phone calls still remain stable. At least for now. I sometimes still have issues with audio stuttering in regular 5G mode, and even testing a game server I got booted off with an error citing connection loss. Whatever it is, the loss is brief since connection comes back quickly. Speedtest shows low ping and low jitter, which surprised me. I logged into the Admin console. Is there an option to switch from 5G mode to 4G, just to rule out some possible causes of this? That sounds dumb since I have 4 bars on the modem and 5 on my phone (which generally connects to the modem’s built-in wifi.) I haven’t tested disabling 5G on the phone, but with 5 bars this really seems odd. Why would the phone show more bars and stronger signal strength when it’s the smaller of the two devices? I turned the modem (“silver can” in shape) off and unplugged it for 30 minutes. I’d heard this forces a firmware check and upgrade. This did not make a difference. I keep a small fan running by the air inlet on the modem to help prevent overheating. That hasn’t helped either. The built-in battery also seems to waver in percentage; always going from 65 to 78%. It used to read 100% in the past. I think that’s a separate issue. I am having no power outage issues.Solved5.2KViews2likes20Comments5G Home Internet Continues to disconnect
I have had this device just a few days and I must reboot it about three times a day as the WIFI will fail and knock out ethernet as well. Sometime I have to reboot it twice in a row. When can I expect a hotfix for this issue? I cannot afford to work like this and I will have to drop service is not fix ASAP. I will like to also request credit on my bill until the issue is 100% resolved. I see several topics for the exact same issue I am having and it need to be fixed across the board!!!Solved3.7KViews6likes16CommentsUnreliable home internet
Hello, I have the 5G home internet cylinder, and I love the concept, but I have been having a very inconsistent and overall disappointing experience with it. Streaming TV will buffer constantly. Video conferencing for work has become impossible. Speed tests show 1-3Mbps. After several LONG calls to TMobile support, they have told me that work was being done to the tower in my area, but that has come and gone and the speed is still EXCRUCIATINGLY slow or sometimes just stops altogether. Is this a device issue or consistent with everyone else’s experience? My device is on firmware version 1.2101.00.1609. Any help would be appreciated!1.9KViews0likes15CommentsHome internet becoming unreliable after few months
We got T-Mobile home internet AND upgraded to Magenta Max at the same time on our phone plan because it was a total of $50 per month (either pay $50 per month for internet or upgrade to Magenta Max on phones for $20 and then pay $30 for internet). The internet worked great for the first 2 months. Then it started dropping signal once, twice, now multiple times a day. I work from home and can’t be on a zoom call when signal drops. My work computer takes longer to find the signal once dropped than other devices due to vpn and firewalls but that’s how companies keep data secure. I’ve called a T-Mobile and been on the phone for an hour doing all their tests. I was transferred to another tech who told me see how it works tomorrow now. He said he’d call me at 2pm to see if any drops that day. I recorded drops at 8am and again around 9:30. Then when he tried to call me, internet dropped again and the call went t9 voicemail instead after 1 ring. He left a message saying he assumes all good but call back if issues and here’s 800 number. So no way to get him personally without going through the whole process again. I’m done and calling comcast to set up fiber optics. I live near Phoenix and was happy knowing T-Mobile home internet was available for my address since they were rolling it out to limited areas only. suspect they’ve now accepted more customers than their service can accommodate especially after reading all the negative messages about the service on this site.1.7KViews6likes9Commentscan't send specific text message

According to 5G coverage map, we are supposed to be in 5G Ultra coverage, but our street only gets LTE, and the next street over also only gets LTE, everywhere else in this neighborhood in West San Jose gets 5G UC. The whole length of Doyle road only gets LTE, but at each of its ends (Lawrence and Saratoga) there is 5G UC. My 1000 dollar iphone is kinda wasted on LTE.1.2KViews0likes2Comments
