Request to unlock a cell phone – Paid-off device with no debts
Dear all,
I purchased a cell phone that, according to the seller's description, was unlocked for any carrier. However, when I tried to use the device, I found that it was locked by T-Mobile, preventing it from being used on other carriers.
I would like to inform you that the cell phone has already been paid off and any existing debts with the carrier have been paid off, and that there are no outstanding financial issues related to the device. The associated plan number is Plan Id: 1097350507 and the Finance Type: LOAN.
I have already contacted the seller, but so far I have not received a solution. Therefore, I request that the device be unlocked immediately, in accordance with the guidelines and regulations for unlocking mobile devices.
The IMEI of the device is: 354379775813801. I appreciate your attention and await a response with the solution for this case.

The only guideline that applies here is the one set by T-Mobile USA.
SIM Unlock Policy | Unlock Your Mobile Wireless Device | T-Mobile https://www.t-mobile.com/responsibility/consumer-info/policies/sim-unlock-policy
As per those requiremenrs, your device and account do not meet the requirements. You should return the device to the person you bought it from because they deceptively sold you a device that was supposed to be SIM unlocked and isn't.

Unfortunately in the guidelines to unlock a phone you must be a T-Mobile customer so the seller needs to request the phone to be unlocked if they used it on T-Mobile.
Where did you buy the phone?

I bought it on EBay, seller: virtual_clay.
I bought a phone from this seller on 11/25/2024, with delivery expected on 12/10/2024. The seller advertised the phone as unlocked, but upon receiving it, I found it was locked to T-Mobile. After multiple promises to unlock it, the last one being within 48 hours, the phone is still locked as of 01/22/2025. The seller was dishonest and did not fulfill the listing. Now I’ll have to spend $180 to unlock it. I do not recommend this seller!

File a complaint with eBay and quit buying phones from there to save a buck. Also don't be surprised if the phone gets reported as lost or stolen for an insurance claim.
