That would depend on what is between your TMHI and the tower. You can put it in a window, which will help for having less interference, from your house.
In my case, the best signal comes through a window which has a clear line of site to the tower (small gap), while elevation doesn’t help me (short tower).
In general, best line of site to the tower for placement first, then find best location inside. If your tower is tall, and trees/homes are blocking, then height is probably the issue.
You may want to use TMHI app + cellmapper to find what is between your home and the tower. Google maps 3d line will help afterwards
