Upgrade Support Charge JoD

Just pre-ordered the Galaxy S8 with Jump on Demand and the lady on the phone kept telling me about a 20 dollar fee for the sim card and shipping. Told her I thought it was free overnight shipping. She said there was. Told her I didn't need the SIM card and she had me hold on a minute. Told me I'd be charged the 20 bucks when it was ready to ship, but that she'd credit it back and I wouldn't need to call back to get that credit. Anyone have more info on this?
Do you actually work for T-Mobile? I'm so confused with all the misinformation.

- Zero at upgrade—never pay to upgrade—just trade in your eligible phone.
- Zero waiting—why wait 2 years to upgrade when you don't have to?

There's no way to use self service for Jump on Demand

I bought a phone outright and was charged a $35 service fee. I contact customer service online and the lady said it's the process I pay for. I didn't add a line and no one helped me pick out the phone. I already knew what I wanted and I bought it outright. A service fee at T-Mobile is a complete scam! I would definitely never buy a phone from the actual t mobile store again. Btw the one Plus 10 pro is $40.00 cheaper on Amazon.

I was ambushed by the “upgrade support charge” of $20 on my invoice. Never was brought up by the rep I spoke to on the phone while buying my new phone. I told her I’d switch the SIM myself. When I called Customer Service to complain about it , it was cheerfully waived and I got an immediate credit for the $20.

Then buy it online lol, then again you have to pay for shipping soooooo basically the same charge.

Lol it's going to be the same price where ever you go. If you are going to require assistance setting up your phone, it will he charged, every carrier does it, and most of them are even more expensive. If you don't want to pay the assisted support charge, purchase it online and activate it yourself.

Seriously not about to pay for a fee just to buy a phone at the store. That's like going to the grocery store and saying you have to pay an extra $20 to buy a head of lettuce. What a rip off.
If I go to a store to buy a phone it will not be at T-Mobile.

Jump On Demand upgrades are exempt from the Upgrade Support Charge after the initial set up of Jump On Demand.
So, if you were already on JOD and are performing an upgrade to another JOD device, the charge is systematically waived.
My experience mirrors your own in that, apparently, it takes a credit to get that done...... m'kay.
In my case, the upgrade support charge was reimbursed with $20 credit to account due to web issues preventing me from following the 'self-help path' (I am not a JOD customer).
Not sure if that helps put your mind at ease at all, but its what I can contribute.
