Price increase

I've been a customer of T-Mobile for over 20 years. I am part of a plan that is grandfathered in. My invoice with multiple lines was typically $205. I purchased several phone devices and committed to a monthly payment plan for each device. This placed me in a monthly rate of roughly $365. I did my very best to pay off every device that had a monthly device plan. In November of 2024 I paid off every device and my monthly play went back to the original of $205. In March 2025 (this month) I received my new invoice of roughly $300 and in addition to that I received a text message that stated ALL T-Mobile plans will now have an increase of $5 per line per month increase. That is a total of $325 plus taxes per month. Somehow someway T-Mobile found a way to increase my monthly plan from the original $205 back to $300+ even while owning all of my devices now.

I have multiple conversations with representatives and supervisors inquiring about my rates etc and their excuses range from 'I was receiving a discount while I had my phone devices on a payment plan' and when I paid the devices off...the discount went away. WRONG! My plan was always $205 BEFORE I purchased devices through tmobile and agreed to break down the payments. Then a supervisor named Mark said the text I received regarding the $5 per month per phone line does not apply to me because I am locked in a plan that is grandfathered in. Mark, the supervisor I had my last conversation with on March 13th, 2025 says he will confirm via phone call on Saturday March 15th that my plan will revert to $205 as before and he can assure me the new $5 per month per line does not apply to me.

On Saturday March 15th 2025 I received a phone call from Mark and said 'he will not be reverting the plan as discussed' and disconnected the call immediately. He did not allow me to speak. It was an immediate disconnection.

My concern is...T-Mobile claims all phone calls are recorded, why or how are the representatives or supervisors able to speak to customers in this false manner? My concern is....how is T-Mobile able to find screw anybody out of their ORIGINAL phone payment agreement once we've dabbled into the agreement of paying for the devices monthly. HUGE MISTAKE. HUGE. I will never ever ever again purchase my phones through T-Mobile EVER AGAIN. I am disgusted at their service. I hope the CEO reads and listens to this post and finds my text messages and calls that were recorded so he can see the representatives that represent the company are a disgrace.

    1. All phone calls are recorded - by them, you won't have access to them.  I recommend stating at the start that you are ALSO recording the call.  The tone will change.
    2. Write to the BBB.  You will have a higher level than manager/supervisor at T-Mobile.
    3. Decide if you want to cancel and go somewhere else.

I also have the old plan "Select Choice Unl TT+D 20" a.k.a. "Simple Choice" with T-Mobile over 20 years.  When I called them to address my concern about the 25% rate increase on my plan yesterday, the rep tried to convince me that it applied to everyone on those similar plans and it was only $5 more (asking me not to look at the percentage and saying he has 9 lines and the increase to him is $45 total per month).  I also asked him about what they could do to customers like me.  After he looked into my account and usage further, he recognized that I have been with T-Mobile for so long and recommended me with another plan offering unlimited texts and calls but no data for $20/month (Note this plan started 2017), but, there is no rate guarantee.

This $25% rate increase is nothing like the recent cost hike in our grocery bills.  For the groceries, we can choose what not to buy and what alternatives there are.  For this rate increase, it is going to be fixed monthly moving forwards if not going higher even more, unless we switch the carrier.

It also seemed to me, at this point is not negotiable and who knows if they will NOT keep increasing the rate on the plans.  So I am looking into ClassAction.org for potential “mass arbitration” and see if by taking this action T-Mobile will go back to honor the same old rate to their loyal customers.

  • I'm going through the same thing today. I'm also grandfathered in and paid off 2 phones last month. All 7 of my line went up about $10. without notice. Presently I'm waiting for a super to call me back. I will be calling the Md. public service commission if they don't correct my bill. I will keep you informed.

They are a bunch of liars. I've been with them since 2002 & let me tell you, my first bill was almost $2K when it was supposed to be $39 per months with "Free Nights & Weekends" (yeah, seems like eons ago). I had to fight with them THEN over my bill whereas it went from "they were unable to locate the contract when I started the service, to some made up contract that I never signed. Thank goodness I keep everything. Fast forward to now after all the "We'll never increase your plan/ You're Grandfathered in" and now all of a sudden they're increasing my rate plan because they feel like they "just can" under the falsehood of "rising costs" without any proof of those "costs."

I will be submitting complaints to both the FCC as well as my State Attorney General. They "crapped all over" us loyal customers with a middle-finger candle atop their cake they threw at us who have been with them for at least 10-15+ years. Reciprocated cutomer-business loyalty no longer matters in this day & age just money, Money, MONEY!

Are there other sites in addition to ClassAction.org for signing up for the “mass arbitration” to go against the recent T-Mobile's rate increase?

  • I had the exact same problem as you! I've been "grandfathered" in for at least 10 or more years! A price that they said would NEVER INCREASE!!! Well, it did!! They won't deal with me anymore on this subject, so I'm going to go with my cable company and the plan is exactly the same as tmobile, but it going to be $25 lower!! Bye bye tmobile......
