Need to unlock a device? Here's some information to get you started.
The magic of cell phones is that they are our companion wherever we go. They connect us to friends and family, work, entertainment, and everything in between. Cell phones have also been a convenient place for us to store our treasures like pictures and music. Changing phones can be a headache, which is why unlocking our devices is so important if we are traveling to other countries or changing wireless providers. Let's take a look at the requirements and processes for unlocking your phone. Eligibility requirements To network unlock your device, you must first meet certain eligibility requirements. Some of the requirements are different based on your account type, but some things don't change. The device must be sold by T-Mobile. It mustn't be reported as lost, stolen, or broken. The account associated to the device must be in good standing. T-Mobile may need proof of purchase or some additional information, but most of the time the unlock process is seamless and easy. If you are on a postpaid account, the unlock requirements are pretty straightforward. Make sure the device is paid off and it was used on your account for a minimum of 40 days. How easy is that?! :D If you have a prepaid plan, your device will be eligible for unlock 365 days after the day it was initially activated on the account. One year can be a very long time to wait, but don't fret — there's another option available. Prepaid accounts that activated the device at least 14 days ago and placed $100 in refills per line are also eligible for unlock. Each line can only have two unlocks per year, though, so keep that in mind if you are trying to unlock a third device on the same phone number. Process to unlock So how does the unlock happen? As soon as your device is eligible, you will receive a text message notification letting you know that you can go through the unlock process. It only takes a couple of minutes as long as you are connected to the T-Mobile data network or reliable Wi-Fi. Android devices are diverse, so the exact steps vary. Basically, you can go into settings and then to Network, Connections, or About Phone. You want to find the option for Network Unlock or Device Unlock. Finally, select Permanent Unlock and let it load. It may restart itself, but if it doesn't, you'll want to restart the phone and then you are ready to roll. If you use iPhone, you just insert the new SIM card and restart the phone. You can also follow the normal steps to activate the eSIM with the other service provider like normal. Easy peasy! To sum it up I love that we have reduced the effort that it takes to unlock devices by sending notifications proactively when the eligibility requirements are met and empowered device owners with the ability to complete the steps easily right from the phone. It saves so much time because there is no need to contact customer support or wait for a ticket to be filed to gain approval. I hope this helps answer any questions about our unlock process. You can find more information about our unlocking devices on our Support page. I would love to hear any thoughts or other questions that y’all have about unlocking devices.HeavenM3 years agoCommunity Manager55KViews5likes106CommentsUnlock code

I recently received a new update for android 12 & oxygen 12 for my oneplus 9 pro. Now I have a list of bugs and issues happening. I have read a lot of the same complaints here on the forum and other sites from oneplus 9 pro/ t mobile users experiencing the same thing. Just to list a few…… screen brightness changes for no reason, operational and navigational lag, refresh rate (120) slows down periodically, finger print reader and face unlock will randomly stop working. What is the game plan for t mobile to send out fixes to an update I didn’t need? This is ridiculous.Solved14KViews20likes72CommentsSim locked but t mobile says fully unlocked
I bought Iphone 14 pro in September and I moved to Indonesia. So I fully paid for my phone before I came here and when I was paying for the device, t mobile expert said that it has been fully unlocked. On my setting, it still says SIM Locked and it is not working here. I called T mobile more than 10 times, they say that it’s been fully unlocked but my phone says it is still locked! I even tried to scan a new esim on the phone it says I need to contact the original carrier to unlock the phone. Every time I called all they say is the device is fully unlocked. I was even connected to Apple experts but they could not help me with anything. Apple suggested me to reset the phone, which I have tried. Now I don’t know what to do. It’s been more than two weeks and I’m not able to use this phone that I’ve paid $1000 for. I have a Samsung Galaxy A14 5G. I personally didnt buy it from the store but it's paid for. When I try to network unlock either permanently or temporarily it says unable to because of code 6. What is code 6 and how can I get around this. I need it unlocked for one reason only and that is because I have a government SIM card from Qlink and I would like to be able to use it in my phone every now and then. Otherwise I will have to resort to other methods and flash my phone with Odin.Blownaway2 years agoRoaming Rookie9KViews0likes2CommentsUnlocking second sim possible?
Is it possible to unlock the second sim on an iPhone 14? I am looking for a second phone number with no data and T-Mobile doesn’t offer a resonable plan. DIGITS won't work because I have no data service in my area. I understand the phone needs to be paid off but it doesn't make sense to pay the phone off if they are going to continuously do a promotion to keep you in a contract. I'll likely never pay a phone off while on T-Mobile so it sounds like I’d never be able to use the second sim with another provider or if I travel and want to pick up a sim. Any way to at least unlock the second sim?Solveddsm2132 years agoRoaming Rookie7.9KViews0likes9CommentsDevice Unlock Problem! Reason Code: 19
Here comes the vent. about a month ago I canceled my T-Mobile account which had me and my ex-girlfriend on it I wanted to switch to Mint mobile my girlfriend stayed with T-Mobile but they made her get a new account since I was the account holder. I was told that once I pay off my phone and my ex girlfriend gets her new account then my phone would be unlocked and I would be able to take it to Mint mobile. I found out after I had already canceled my account and paid off the phone that the phone would not unlock. since I don't have an account anymore it is very hard to get verified with anyone from T-Mobile I've had to be in a T-Mobile store while talking to a T-Mobile representative on the phone so that the person in the T-Mobile store could verify that I was me and so that the person on the phone could submit a unlock request which I have done three different times!!!! this issue has been escalated three different times also. the device is a Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra and the reason code is 19 when I try to permanently unlock it on the device. T-Mobile has no answers when I'm able to get through to them but that's only if I'm at a store and talking to a rep on the phone at the same time. the device is a replacement device from Assurant which is another route that I explored for a possible problem but was assured that the IMEI should be in T-Mobile's database even though it's a replacement device. I'm running out of options I don't know what else to do I have $1,000 phone that I'm not able to use to make phone calls or use cell towers and it's so frustrating oh and I also just recently received my final bill in the mail from T-Mobile which is a negative! -$47 balance so now I'm wondering since it's not a zero balance and since T-Mobile owes me money could that be the reason that my locked. Does anyone who has read this far have any suggestions or reasons why my phone is locked? I'll be filing an FCC complaint next because they restricting me from using the device that I legally bought from them. I doubt it causes any progress but maybe someone will see it and care enough to tighten the leash on big companies like T-Mobile.Solved7.3KViews2likes9Comments
