Learn how to set up your new Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra using an eSIM with T-Mobile.

What do I need to know?

  • Customers currently using eSIM who purchase a Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra from T-Mobile will have a slightly different setup process.
  • T-Mobile will notify impacted customers at the same email address used to place the phone order.
  • If setting up your eSIM for the first time on your device using the process below, the device will restart after downloading the eSIM and any previously synced data will be erased. 
  • You should not transfer any data to your new device until after you download your eSIM and your device restarts.
  • To set up your new phone follow the eSIM to eSIM first time use steps below.
 
Notification to customers
 

Congratulations on your new Samsung Galaxy S22 series purchase! Because your current phone uses an eSIM, included are detailed instructions on how to set up your new phone so you can bypass the need for a physical SIM in the setup flow. Make sure you have an available Wi-Fi connection and a computer or another device to scan a QR code.

  • After opening the box and powering on your new phone, hold the volume DOWN button for 5 seconds.
  • Select Start and agree to the terms.
  • Select Next to connect to Wi-Fi.
  • Bypass the setup instructions. For a step-by-step detailed list, visit eSIM to eSIM first time use.
  • To set up your eSIM, start from your Home screen and follow the steps below:
    1. Open your dialer and dial *#06# to locate your EID.
    2. Once you have your EID, activate it by calling Customer Care (dial 611).
    3. Once activated, go to Settings > Connections > SIM Card Manager.
    4. Select Add Mobile Plan / eSIM.
    5. Enter or scan the code using one of the two options below.
      1. Scan the QR Code found at eSIM to eSIM first time use.
      2. Enter Activation Code
        • SM-DP+ Address: T-MOBILE.GDSB.NET
        • Activation code: [Blank]
        • Confirmation code: [Blank]
  • After scanning or entering the Code, your eSIM setup is complete.
  • Your phone will automatically reboot.
  • Once your phone powers back on, it will automatically be connected to the T-Mobile network.
  • You can follow the normal setup instructions and transfer your data from your existing phone.
  • Enjoy your new Samsung Galaxy S22!

 

eSIM to eSIM first time use

Take a look at the steps below to walk through the eSIM to eSIM setup process on your new Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra. 

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Hold the Volume down key for 5 seconds, and then select Start.
  3. Review the Terms and conditions, then select I have read and agree to all of the above > Next.
  4. Choose your Wi-Fi network (you may be prompted to enter your password), then select Connect.
  5. On the 'Service Provider' screen, select Next.
  6. Skip the phone setup steps and go to the Home screen.
    1. On the 'Copy apps & data' screen, select Don’t copy.
    2. On the 'Google Sign In' screen, select Skip > Skip.
    3. On the 'Google Services' screen, select More > More > Accept.
    4. On the 'Protect your phone' screen, select Skip > Skip Anyway.
    5. On the 'Review Additional apps' screen, uncheck 'All of the following apps' and select OK.
    6. On the 'Samsung account' screen, select Skip > Skip.
    7. Select Finish.
  7. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  8. Select Settings > Connections > SIM card manager.
  9. Select Add mobile plan / eSIM > Scan carrier QR code.
  10. Use your camera to scan the T-Mobile eSIM QR code
    • If you are having problems, select to Enter code instead.
    • If you do not have a second device to scan the QR code from, you can select the Photos icon to select a screenshot of the QR code.
  11. After scanning the QR Code, your phone will automatically restart.
  12. Once your phone powers back on, it will automatically be connected to the network.
  13. At the 'Welcome!' screen, select your language, then select Start to begin setting up your phone.
  14. Review the Terms and conditions, then select I have read and agree to all of the above > Next.
  15. Choose your Wi-Fi network. You may be prompted to enter your password. Select Connect.
  16. Select Next, follow the on-screen steps to transfer your apps, photos, contacts, Google account, and more, or select Don't copy.
  17. Sign in to your Google account and select Next to continue or select Skip.
  18. Review and agree to Google's terms of service and select I agree.
  19. Review the available Google Services and select the switches to turn them on or off. Select More > MoreAccept.
  20. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your facial recognition, fingerprints, and setting up a PIN or password, or select Skip.
  21. Set up your Assistant with "Hey Google" select I agree or Skip to set up later.
  22. Review and select the additional apps to download and install during the initial setup and select Ok.
  23. Log in or create your Samsung account.
  24. Review and agree to Samsung's terms and conditions and select Next.
  25. Review and bring your data saved from the Samsung Cloud or select Skip.
  26. Review and agree for T-Mobile to collect your device data and select Accept and continue.
  27. Select Accept and finish Finish.
  28. Your setup is complete!
