T-Mobile Network Speeds Get Up to 50% Faster in Sacramento

December 10, 2014

The Un-carrier rolls out a Wideband LTE upgrade to the residents of the California capitol

Sacramento, California  – December 11, 2014 – On the heels of recent LTE upgrades across the U.S., T-Mobile (NYSE: TMUS) today announced that the greater Sacramento, CA area joins the other markets in California to get up to a 50% increase in LTE mobile speeds from a Wideband LTE upgrade. In addition to the Sacramento area, T-Mobile LTE customers in Placer, Sacramento, Yolo, San Joaquin, and Stanislaus counties are also experiencing super-fast download speeds, making access to their favorite mobile content seem almost instantaneous. In December, T-Mobile customers in the Sacramento area observed download speeds as high as 54 Mbps.

Wideband LTE increases the bandwidth and capacity of T-Mobile’s LTE network to help deliver faster peak speeds. It is like adding more lanes to a freeway for all LTE customers to speed along in. With T-Mobile’s Wideband LTE, customers can download a full 90 minute HD movie to their phone or tablet in three and half minutes or a whole album in just nine seconds with theoretical peak download speeds of 110 Mbps.

With the average download speed in the Sacramento area recently clocking in at 19 Mbps, Sacramento customers are using on average 2.64 GB of data per month.

“Our network is truly built for today’s mobile Internet age, delivering the speeds needed for all the surfing, streaming, or Skyping our Sacramento customers do on a daily basis,” said David Gallacher, Regional Vice President – West, Engineering at T-Mobile. “And now with Wideband LTE in Sacramento, all of T-Mobile’s data-hungry LTE customers in California’s capitol will immediately see ever faster mobile internet speeds.”
