Reading on T-Mobile site indicates that our i-phones / mobile phones will work internationally. No set up, no additional fees. Is this true? If not, what is needed to use a phone internationally (one country in Europe) for a week. Thanks in advance.Solved21KViews0likes6CommentsiPhone eSIM temporary unlock while traveling abroad
HI, I would like to know if eSIM can be unlocked only while traveling abroad. We used to be with another carrier “V” as I heard they were the only one keeping the devices unlocked even while the phone is in installment. We switched to T-Mobile 9 months ago because T-Mobile sales representative offered cheaper monthly fee for seniors like us, upgrade to iPhone 15 and T-Mobile unlocks SIM temporarily for 30 days if requesting before traveling abroad even we are in equipment installment plan. Today I contacted for T-Mobile chat support as my wife is traveling to Japan from this weekend and was advised by a chatbot that we are not eligible to unlock because there is a balance for monthly device payment. I googled and read some people saying the temporary unlock is available only to Android phones. It seems to be not what T-Mobile does/doesn’t but rather hardware setting on Android. I also see certain iPhone can be unlocked only if installment plan is purchased from Apple store or Apple.com, which sounds weird to me why customers purchased directly from the carrier is limited in services. Although my Go5GPlus plan offers up to 5GB data included, I was informed I need to purchase international data pass after that ($35 for 5GB in 10 days, $50 for 15GB in 30 days), which sounds comparably expensive as long as I researched Japan local carriers’ prepaid data rate. We travel overseas only 1 or 2 in a year, so it is still cheaper when considering the monthly charges overall, but I just would like to know the correct information of iPhone under T-Mobile equipment installment plan. Could someone who was recently in the same situation or T-Mobile expert could clarify the most updated information? I am in Mexico right now and my data is not working. Every time I come here, I get 5G high speed data and then unlimited low speed data, every month, for 3 months. I always get a “Welcome to Mexico” text when I land. However, this last trip I have not gotten a “Welcome to Mexico” text and I have been here for 2 months already. My phone has said no service since I have been here and I haven’t had any data! I have a Magenta plan and I know this is supposed to be included. I am extremely frustrated and confused!2.4KViews0likes8CommentsInternational Pass Ripoff
I signed up for an 10-day International Pass this morning. I overlooked the option to select a start date so it defaulted to today/immediately. I called Customer Support and was told they couldn’t change the start date since it defaulted to immediately. This is unreasonable and poor customer service. Be careful of gotchas.86Views0likes0CommentsPrepaid top up with Irish card not accepted, but a random list of countries are accepted?
Hi, in the past I was able to use my Irish credit/debit cards to top up my T-Mobile prepaid account. This seems to have disappeared, and now there is a random list of countries whose cards are accepted for payment. My country, Ireland, is not on this list, although other Eurozone countries (Finland, France, Germany, Italy) are. Does anyone know why this changed, and is there any way for me top up using one of my own Irish cards, rather than asking a friend in one of the accepted countries to top up for me? Thanks in advance.131Views1like0CommentsiPhone unlock for international travel
Hello, I have 4 devices and thos are locked to T-mobile because those are on installment plan. It has been close to 2 months since I have joined T-mobile. I have an international trip coming up in November. I am wondering if T-mobile can temporarily unlock my devices so that I can use the same using local sim cards while overseas. I can produce flight ticket and hotel bookings details to show the proof.Solved1.5KViews0likes1Comment
