bait and switch
20 TopicsHow to escalate a complaint
I received a text from T-mobile. They said I could buy 2 I phones get $700 off one, and receive a free line. I called T-mobile, they checked my account and said yes you definitely qualify. I then went into a chat session and asked again and they again said yes I qualify(I have the print out) So I went into the Store, I again, in front of 2 other live witnesses , asked them to check and see that this promotion was available to my plan before purchasing the 2 I phones. Again, they called spoke to another manager and yes they said all was good. So we purchased the I phones, received the new sim card for the new line and everything was fine. Until I got my bill, T-mobile was charging me $10 for the new line plus the other fees( fees which I already knew I would have to pay. I am not opposing those fees. ) So I chatted with T-Mobile, the rep agreed (I have it from the chat printout) I should not be charged, he took the fee off and said that all was good. Low and behold next month the $10 charge was again on my bill. I again called up another rep Christopher. He said yes I see the problem. He again removed the $10 charge and said that it was taken care of……Nope, next month the same thing I talked to another girl Crystal, she again agreed that I had did everything correct and there was just a delay in the billing. She took the $10 fee off and she begged me and I mean begged me to say that the problem was solved. I refused and told her until I see that the charge is not on my monthly statement I would not say the problem was resolved. She reluctantly said ok. Guess what the next month the $10 charge was their again!!!!! So I went into the T-Mobile store and at first they said they would take care of it then they started saying no this was only for some other promotion???? What??? I confirmed several times, printed from chats and if I wasn’t eligible why would they all have said I was and agreed to take off the charges??? So the manager at the store, Said he agreed and would look into it. I sent him all the chats, the copy of the texts, everything. This guy tells me later that the girl that he was working with to get it resolved was let go and there was nothing he could do??? WHAT? Was there only one individual in the company that could take care of this???? To me this is clearly a bait and switch scheme that T-Mobile is trying to pull off. Much like their “oh if we merge with Sprint we will create jobs” but now we know that T-Mobile is laying off 5000 employees. So I need to know how to escalate this and if anyone else out there experienced something similar so I can present it to the attorney general and the fcc.Solved14KViews7likes34CommentsBuying unlocked phones for use on tmobile network
I want to buy a new phone, I was going to purchase one from tmobile, but I will not purchase anything from tmobile due to them lying to me and their bait and switch policy Where is the best place to buy an unlocked phone for use on tmobile network. I also just convinced another person, who was going to purchase their new phone from tmobile to purchase it else where.Solved5.2KViews0likes2CommentsBait and switch - misinformation from phone agent
When I signed up five new lines with T-Mobile, I was told by Deaven, the phone agent, that he could give me $400 off a new iphone “now” or if I go into a T-Mobile store that would give me $800 off. I went to the store and was told that the information was not correct and they could only give me $400. I then called costumer supports again, and was told that I misunderstood what Deaven told me. I then called back again and was told that not only was I not getting $800, or $400 of I was only going to get $175, I then asked to speak with a manager. She told me that I was eligible for “Keep and Switch” promotion, in which I would be able to get $800 for each phone line I have. She sent me the link to sign up, and said she’d call me back in an hour. I read the terms of “Keep and Switch” and she was incorrect it only pays for remaining balances from my previous carrier, so she lied as well, and never called back. I received a text asking how was my experience, and I gave 0 out of 10, so today I received a call from another manager and after explaining my turmoil with her staff, she said, “I know how you feel, but there is nothing I can do.” How do I go about reaching T-mobile cooperate to complain?1.9KViews7likes13CommentsBait and Switch - Trade in SCAM
Why? I traded my 3 phones for the free phone promo last Aug. Thinking my 3 devices will be almost free. I called customer service right away when they charged me $20 something for each phone monthly to complain. Customer assured me that they will fix the problem and rest assured that no monthly devices fee will be charged moving forward. It happenned again a month after then same promises then another month again...and every month I call ( about 8 months with more than 8 rep that I talked with same promises) What shall I do now? I am tired of calling and to waste my time. How can I file a complaint?1.9KViews9likes17Comments5G home internet speed after 15-day trial.
For the first two weeks of having 5G Home Internet I was getting download speeds from 250-400 Mbps down and 20-25 Mbps upload. I know they only advertise 35-115 Mbps download on their website. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Really good speeds until the 15-day trial ends and then it’s slowed down. This seems pretty shady. I’ve been testing every day for two weeks and consistently got above 200 Mbps download. Now the free trial is ending and the speeds slow down. I know it’s not a signal issue because I get 250-400 Mbps download on my T-Mobile 5G phone. I feel like I’ve been baited into not cancelling before the free trial ends.1.5KViews2likes13CommentsBait and Switch on Rebates
A month ago we talked to a sales agent for over two hours to nail down a deal. We were rolling over 5 lines and swapping one old phone for a new phone. We were responsible to return the old phone and were promised a $200 mastercard gift card per line. When the new phone and sim cards were delivered there was no information on returning the old phone and no gift cards. I called today and sent an hour with technical support and then another hour with billing. After walking through our account details the billing representative told me we would get the gift cards if we switched to a higher cost plan. Clearly a bait and switch. In the original sales call we covered in detail every aspect of the plan we were going to use, the trade-in for the new phone, and the per-line gift cards. Everything was completely clear between us and the sales agent. There was no confusion. I said “bait and switch” to the customer representative and she hung up. I’m planning to switch to another carrier as soon as possible.1.4KViews3likes9CommentsTMobile Internet Gateway throttled
Hello, I have TMobiles “unlimited” home internet gateway. Speeds are clearly being throttled, or at least we are experience slow/unusable speeds during the day time. 1-2MBps. At night, were well over 75mbps. Is it possible there is an issue with my specific service? My understanding is that there was no throttling with their internet service, and am afraid I was bait and switched. I’ve used 3rd party TMobile 4G internet SIM cards in the past and have not had this issue...so “network” coverage doesnt make sense as the fault.1.3KViews1like2CommentsBait and Switch Help
How do I go about getting assistance with being Baited and Switched regarding my phone plan? In Feb of 2024 I reached out to Tmobile Text Customer Support to discuss upgrading my phones. I was very clear when asking for TOTAL BILL price from the rep. Rep said TOTAL BILL would be roughly $255. The bill has been $310 each month since. Ive called monthly to try to remedy, but never get helped. Just a $60 bill credit and told a manager would call and that never happens. What do I do next?399Views0likes5CommentsT-Mobile Military Bate and Switch
I switched to T-mobile in December 2022 because they could save me money on my $200+ AT&T bill with the Military Magenta Max plan. I was extremely upfront about the fact that I am an Air Force Civilian, not active duty. I had multiple people assure me that I qualified before I switched. They used my Air Force ID to sign me up at the store. Now, we have switched carriers, spent hundreds of dollars on phones, and now I am being told that I somehow don't qualify. My choices are 1) pay more making the switch to T-mobile a pointless switch for similar cost and worse service or 2) commit a federal crime by impersonating a fellow soldier. Obviously, I am not going to commit a crime. I am absolutely furious that I was misled and unfortunely, I don't have anyway to prove I was given misinformation because they refuse to provide transcripts. I know they record conversations in store and on the phone but I do not have access to them. I'm honestly in angry tears right now. To T-mobile: please remedy this situation, in writing. The FTC has determined that bait and switch sales practices are unfair or deceptive trade practices, and violate the FTC Act.199Views1like1CommentBank payments being reversed
Two months in a row now (at a cost of $90 so far to me), my payment has been processed, deducted from my t-mobile bank account last month then the payment was reversed just in time to give me late fees and drop my auto-pay discount. I tied calling but when they said a 7 minute wait time, waht they really meant was an hour. I’ve reentered the bank information twice now. My bank statement shows the payment went through, but rather than wait to have it reversed, I’d like to get some help (and get my $90 back). I can make the payment (again), but I need to have whatever is wrong in the system resolved so I don’t have to keep going through this. The ONLY reason I set up the t-mobile bank account was to mkae this payment, but I need it to work.199Views0likes4Comments
