Home Internet

I’m in Dallas, TX. Home Internet shows 5 bars for connection quality but speed test shows 0.34 download 0.00 upload. So do # of bars just represent my connection to the nearest tower and not the connection I am paying for? Customer service wait time shows greater than 1 hour. T Mobil phone service is bad today too. Is there a way to tell if there is an outage?

I called in again and after they did a reset my speed was back.

But now it is back down

    Very frustrating.

    Which gateway do you have?

I had the same situation, where the Nokia gateway would inexplicably change cell towers from a fast 5G n41 band tower to a 5G n71 band slow tower.  Restarting it did nothing to get n41 back.

The solution for me was the remove the internal battery.  Then, when the gateway was restarted, it booted from scratch and gave me n41 back.

Apparently, the battery keeps internal settings even when restarting.  Without the battery, no internal settings are kept and the gateway restarts anew.

  • Having the same exact problem with my wireless home internet in NE Texas. Called in last night and all I got was, "we are modernizing our towers in your area". Not a peep about when it would be back up and running.
