It is compatible with certain caviots. *#*#4636#*#* into your keypad, click to top link, which gives you all the details about your phone, connectivity, etc.
There is a switch for DSDS: that switch is for the dual SIM capability. Switch off to disable, reboot, upon booting up, it will now say 5G.
I found this resolution elsewhere pertaining to the Xperia™1 VI and this resolved the 5G issue.
It might not be true 5G as certain frequencies are not supported in the device.
It was working as LTE, so, when I travel, I should receive 5G.
Tech support is atrocious, I'm so ready to move onto another provider.
