G4AR: connection via WiFi vs. via Ethernet cable on LAN1
I recently installed the white G4AR device using the Rely 5G Home Internet service. When I connect to the device via WiFi, i.e., directly, and run SpeedTest, I get 486 Mbps down/65.9 Mbps up, which is pretty good. However, when I connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN1 port on the G4AR which is then connected to my firewall, then through a non-managed gigabit switch and then to my own WiFi access point, I get 269 Mbps down/17.6 Mbps up. While the reduced throughput could be due to my firewall/switch/access point, I doubt it, as I've used those devices to connect to a wired ISP in the recent past without a problem. Is anyone aware of some sort of throttling of throughput when going through the gigabit Ethernet connections of the G4AR? Would I get better throughput going through the LAN2 port for any reason?29Views0likes0Comments
