International Data Pass not working when re-purchased
I was traveling in Europe in October and purchased an international data pass. It worked well but I ran out of data toward the end of the trip. I purchased another 5 GB (or perhaps 15, I forget). I received all the proper confirmations and was charged but I never received speeds above the 256 kbps. This continued for 5 days, regardless of restarting the phone, having 5G, being in downtown vs. countryside, etc. It was like the pass never got activated.
Fast forward to December… Got to Europe again and received a text stating I had 5 GB of FREE high-speed data. Perfect. It worked beautifully. However, when it ran out, I purchased an international pass (5 GB this time). Again, received all proper notifications, restarted phone, etc. and haven’t received speeds over 256 kbps.
TL:DR it seems like the first batch of international data with T-mobile works beautifully but then when I purchase/acquire a second pass… it never formally activates on the backend, regardless of what I do. Any ideas? Roaming is on, everything has been restarted, I’ve tried speed tests all over… everywhere from Zurich to Svalbard… it’s clearly not an issue with the device itself as it worked well for Pass #1 on each visit and failed to activate with Pass #2.
Hi, have you contacted customer service? Were you able to get any support? I am having the same issue in the UAE.

Actually I did and got it resolved. Steps for an iPhone:
- go to settings > general > transfer or reset iPhone > reset > reset network settings. Click that and proceed. It won’t delete anything important (pictures, apps, etc.)
- Your phone will restart. After this, go to settings > cellular > cellular data options > turn “data roaming” on.
- You should be all set now! Apparently this process removes the connection to the cellular network/tower and the memory of this connection and when it’s forced to reconnect, it fixes the issue. Worked for me! You will need to reconnect to previously-saved wifi networks just FYI.

P.S. just be careful you only click “reset network settings”!!! Not the other reset options. Don’t want to accidentally reset the whole phone.

We’re also having that same issue. I talked with Customer Service yesterday and was told that the FCC limits international service to 90 days. We just hit that 90-day mark and both of our phones are having the same issue. My husband’s phone is the one with the international data pass, and each time we’ve renewed it, we seem to have the same issue you mentioned (as if the data pass wasn’t set up). This time, we were told about the 90-day limit. I can’t find anything on the internet about a 90-day limit for international calls. We have 6 months before we’ll be back in the US, and now our phones can’t receive calls from the US. Shouldn’t the 90-day limit, if it’s accurate info, be included somewhere in the info for the data pass?

Ok, leaving for Europe in 36 hours and purchased the 10 day international pass. So these are the steps to take to activate that $35 pass? Thank you!
