Connect Directv to T-mobile gateway---HELP Please

Setting up the Gateway is super easy. I think even my husband could do it. ๐Ÿ˜† But...I am struggling to connect the genie to the gateway. The network name doesn't automatically pop up and when I type in the network name, it doesn't recognize it.  Ideas, anyone?  Many thanks from a technologically challenged senior citizen.

  • It's likely you have the Hidden switch turned on for your network(s) which is the default setting on T-Mobile. Go to the phone app, tap Networks on the bottom, then tap your network name. Scroll down and you'll see a slide switch named Hidden. Make sure the switch is in the Off position. Scroll down and tap Save. Your gateway will restart and the network will now be visible.

In the event that doesn't work, you may need to create a separate network for the genie (?). Using the same app, go to Network, then tap the + sign at the bottom right. Create a new network with a new name (SSID) thatโ€™s different from your primary network. Choose ONLY 2.4 GHz for the frequency band and WPA/WPA2 as the WPA version. (This is different from your primary network that uses WPA2/WPA3.) Again, make sure the Hidden switch is OFF. Scroll down, tap Save, and your gateway will restart. Your new network will show as soon as the gateway is back up and running, and you should be able to connect.

    Good luck!
