Re: Simple Choice North America unlimited 5G data
I know of no plan that has unlimited high-speed data. T-Mobile executives may have such a plan but it isn't offered to the public. 5G is a connection type, not a speed. T-Mobile applies a throttle at the APN. You can connect to 5G and still be throttled. What phone do you have and is it locked or unlocked. My niece recently spent a month in France. She bought a SFR (or maybe Orange) eSIM for data for 30 days.64Views0likes0CommentsRe: No roaming !!!!
Buying a data pass does not give you any better access to the roaming partner's network*. It just removes the throttle at T-Mobile's APN (and flat-rates voice calls). This is why I will normally check things out with default data and if that works buy a one-day pass to see how things improve. If I feel a longer pass is warranted, I buy it at the end of the first day. *Except for the Essentials plan where it provides data access (IMHO, YMMV, etc.)113Views0likes1CommentRe: No roaming !!!!
T-Mobile's coverage maps show 3G/4G coverage but that's no guarantee. There are a million reasons why roaming might not work. If roaming worked before, I'd assume that there is some network glitch. This is why I advise always having a backup plan. Is your phone unlocked and eSIM capable? You should download an international data eSIM like Airalo, DENT or Piranha Mobile* and have a means to connect even when T-Mobile roaming isn't working.140Views0likes3CommentsRe: 5G in France
Try buying a French eSIM for data (e.g. SFR or Orange). You'll need an unlocked phone. The problem is that your T-Mobile data has to tunnel back to T-Mobile's servers in the USA before getting to the Internet. This connection can't be guaranteed. A local eSIM's data hits the Internet in France. Also, T-Mobile's data throttles video data streams.50Views0likes0CommentsRe: Excessive Bill Charge for Overseas
Djibouti is one of the exceptions to T-Mobile's generally cheap international roaming. I don't know what to say that will make it all better. The customer needs to be aware of potential high roaming charges when traveling to certain countries and on cruise ships and long-distance ferries. In these places you just need to leave your phone turned off.107Views0likes0Comments
