T-Mobile Home Internet data rates
I have been testing T-Mobile Home Internet for a few weeks. I live perhaps 300 yards from PGBT and am within ½ mile of the cell tower. Using the internal antenna of my Arcadyne TMO-G4AR inside a 2nd-story window, I get typical speed_tests of between 50Mb to 200Mb. But if I turn off WiFi on my Samsung G23U mobile and run speed test inside that same window, I see speeds of 600Mb to 750Mb. Why the difference?
Yeah, that SINR value is quite low. Mine does vary from 6 or 7 up to 18 on both, and if i put it outside, it can go over 20. Very good RSRP, however.
Reading the info from the manufacturer, anything around -80 dB range, and the antenna won't help. Sinr in your case.might be due to interference from other users or noise. Try rotating the device. Ive found Arcadyan to be quite sensitive to rotation. I.e the display on mine has to be 30 to 45 degrees counter clockwise from the tower

- Signal readings from Samsung won’t be the same as those on your Arcadyan.
If you post the stats from your device (Advanced Metrics tab on TMHI app) , it might tell something.
I have S23, and speeds are ~=500-650Mbps indoors. Arcadyan KV-21, speeds are ~400-550Mbps.
Signal is a bit weaker, AND VERY sensitive directionally. I.e. a 20 degree rotation can lose ~10dB RSRP and 6 dB SINR, along with 100Mbps of download.
I’m ~1200’ from TMobile tower.

Thanks for your response. Using Zachary Wander’s excellent app (which reflects the stats taken directly from the Gateway), I find these stats have small variance:
Bands B2 (LTE), n41 (5G)
RSRP: -85 to -87 both bands
RSRQ: -11 for both bands
SINR: 3 to 10 (LTE), 1-9 (5G)I suspect the critical stat is SINR. I sure would prefer a value that is consistently larger. My signal does pass thru a screen on my window. This is easily removable, although I saw little improvement from removing it. Perhaps the screen has only a small impact on these mid-bands?
My key question: would an external antenna not far from the current inside gateway provide a significant improvement. I found that opening the window had only a small impact.
