S22+ Drops 5G when WiFi is enabled

On my Samsung S22+, I notice that when I am on my home Wifi, it only shows 5 bars for the cell signal as if I’m only on 4G.  As soon as I turn off WiFi, the cell signal display shows 5GUC.  If I turn WiFi back on, the 5GUC display goes away and just shows bars only as if I’m back on 4G again.

Is it actually dropping from 5G to 4G whenever I’m on WiFi, or is this just a display glitch?

I believe that is because your home wifi is not 5G so your speed will only be as fast as your wifi when you are connected.

Anyway, it does kinda make sense not to have two high bandwidth channels going at once. If that's what it's really doing.

My mistake - its *#0011# , select ‘SIM 1 Information’

This will tell you what you are connected to physically.  LTE RCC  will tell what channel and bandwidth on LTE.  NR_BAND (if connected) will state, NR_BW will state how much bandwidth.

  • i dont have 5G UC in my area but i cant think of any times i have been connected to wifi and it still showed any other connections whether it be 5G or 4G. it always shows the wifi connection strength and basically whatever the voice signal is to my phone..this has been the way for pretty much all of my phones now that im thinking about it.

but again no 5G UC in my area so not sure if that acts differently or not.

  • You can dial #*0011# and check the stats.  It’s possible that its dropping 5G UC for maybe 5G NSA (n71)  or just 4G LTE with WiFi, as UC isn’t … ‘needed’.
