I will leave the USA for half a year to a year.I want to keep my current phone number and continue to use it when I come back!
Another alternative might be parking it with Number Barn for $2 per month
Try porting it to Google voice for a $20 fee otherwise you're probably going to need to buy a cheap prepaid plan a deposit enough money to keep it active till you come back.
