iPad won’t work! Screen will not light up and ipad will not charge?
OK, it sounds like the battery is dead. Did you try a hard reboot? Try the following link from Apple on rebooting your iPad.

@Hale_ryan what year/version is your iPad. If it's a gen 1, 2, or 3, the battery may be done. Which means it will not hold a charge and will be unresponsive without a cord.
Does it hold a charge? When plugged in does the apple appear on the boot screen and eventually let you log in?
