carry a phone number over from a different provider
Is it normal that if you switch to T Mobile from another provider, and want to bring your previous phone number that initially the account gives you a totally different number?
Just switched from Verizon, and we did the port in pin to bring my number from my Verizon account. They told me at T Mobile it might take up to 24 hours for things to “change over” but I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t have access right away to my normal phone line. Just wondering if this is normal, or if an error was made and I need to call T Mobile again.

It’s not abnormal. Sometimes it can be completed in an hour. Sometimes it’s 3 days. Occasionally it gets really complicated and can’t be done. One thing is that the voice line and text are actually two different things and may complete at different times.

its normal..mainly due to the fact that porting can take a bit of time depending on what all is being ran into on either side (in this case V and TMO)..it gets you up and going until your regular number finally gets ported.
