Activating a new phone while overseas

I currently live in Germany but will be moving home soon. I would like to buy a new unlocked IPhone while still in Germany and then activate the phone with a US phone number and with a US service provider. Is that possible?

    T-Mobile does not send SIMs overseas. Do you have friends, family or address in the USA? The SIM can be shipped to a US contact who can forward it to you,

    You can purchase a SIM and service when you return to the US, put the SIM in the device you are bringing with you, and things should work fine.  Just make sure the APN settings for any device not purchased from T-Mobile are correct.

    Usually you need to be connected to a Tmobile tower to activate service.
