Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones Signs with T-Mobile International as Global Spokeswoman

June 10, 2002

Bellevue, Wash. — Jun. 11, 2002

T-Mobile International, the wireless subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (NYSE:DT) today announced that internationally acclaimed Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones will be its global spokeswoman. T-Mobile is one of the world's leading providers of wireless voice, data and messaging services and will be bringing its family of companies together under the T-Mobile global brand name later this year. Those companies include VoiceStream Wireless in the United States and the T-Mobile companies in Germany (former T-D1), the United Kingdom (former One2One), Austria (former Max.Mobil), and the Czech Republic (former RadioMobil). Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile subsidiaries and affiliated companies today provide services to more than 69 million mobile customers worldwide.

Zeta-Jones will bring the new global brand to life by appearing in T-Mobile's worldwide advertising campaign. The campaign will begin this summer in California with the debut of the T-Mobile brand in the United States and will follow shortly in the United Kingdom and the rest of the United States and Europe by the end of the year.

"Catherine's hard work, dedication, and engaging personality have given her strong international appeal as a respected actress who lives life to the fullest - on her own terms - and make her the perfect choice to represent T-Mobile", said Kai Uwe Ricke, CEO of T-Mobile International.

John Stanton, Chairman of VoiceStream and T-Mobile's North American operations said, "Catherine Zeta-Jones is the 'tour de force' to deliver T-Mobile's GET MORE message globally. Catherine's got the right combination of international appeal, intellect, and style and exudes a remarkable attitude of self confidence and reassurance - all the qualities we want the T-Mobile brand to represent in the marketplace."

A self-proclaimed 'technology nut', Zeta-Jones said she was attracted to T-Mobile's 'get more from life' message, because it mirrors the way she uses wireless communications to enhance her own life. "I'm incredibly excited to be working with T-Mobile on a worldwide basis," said Zeta-Jones. "Wireless communications are an integral part of our culture today. The ability to reach someone on a whim to share a story, or a laugh, or a memory is incredibly empowering. As a global company, T-Mobile is the perfect catalyst for that type of spontaneous communication. I'm thrilled to be helping spread the message that people can live more and get more from their daily lives by using T-Mobile's service, just as I do," said Zeta-Jones.

As the only true, global wireless service provider, T-Mobile is uniquely positioned to offer customers the choice of using their same wireless phone and number to stay connected with friends and family when traveling internationally. The company will bring its family of wireless companies together under a single brand name and marketing strategy this year - "Get More with T-Mobile." As the global spokeswoman of T-Mobile, Zeta-Jones will promote the company's GET MORE promise worldwide - that customers around the world will get more value, more features and more service from T-Mobile so they can use the convenience of wireless service to get more from life.

Zeta-Jones began performing professionally as a teenager and has been equally reputed in theatre, television and film. She has quickly become one of Holllywood's most sought-after leading ladies following her breakout performance in 1998's The Mask of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas. Zeta-Jones won the 1999 European People's Choice Film Award for Best Actress for her work in Entrapment starring opposite Sean Connery and received a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Supporting Actress in the 2000 Academy Award Winning movie Traffic. Zeta-Jones other credits include The Haunting with Liam Neeson in 1999, and America's Sweetheart's in 2001 opposite Julia Roberts, Billy Crystal and John Cusack.

The agreement with Zeta-Jones commences an initial 2-year relationship as T-Mobile's global brand personality.
