Re: TMO-G4SE Cannot go to websites from PC Browsers
It’s not the latest model. But in my setup it works better so far. I took my G4SE to a store and traded it. Not all stores have different models so had to call around. Fairly sure that last firmware update ending in .20 borked my gateway.53Views0likes0CommentsRe: TMO-G4SE Cannot go to websites from PC Browsers
Update: Switched out G4SE for a Fast5688W. Everything is working great. Wireguard in surfshark is now working as it should in windows. And I'm getting faster speeds overall. I feel bad now because I was hounding surfshark developers to fix the mac client for wireguard thinking it was the app that quit working last update. They updated the app to make it work again but I suspect it was my gateway the whole time(I think they changed the MTU in the mac client wireguard protocol to a lower value to work around the gateway issue). Something about that last firmware update on my G4SE really messed things up for my specific setup. Some people probably never notice any problems unless they have similar equipment as mine. It also could have been my gateway was just faulty in some way. Whatever the case, things are good right now. Hope they don't send a new update to my new gateway model(FAST5688W) and bork it.472Views0likes3CommentsRe: TMO-G4SE Cannot go to websites from PC Browsers
Gonna try to get a different model gateway today. My exact problem details: windows 11 machines, Surfshark app, WiFi and Ethernet, wire guard protocol, Open VPN protocols work just fine but very slow as everybody knows. Had issues before with my apple Mac mini not working with wire guard, but was able to adjust my MTU and get it to work with the G4Se gateway(actually worked fine before gateway updated firmware, then I had to change my minis mtu). Next, I tested all my stuff by tethering from my iphone connected to 5G (T-Mobile 5g) and everything worked great and fast on all protocols. I deduce the actual T-Mobile network isn’t the problem. Thus, the problem is at the gateway in my situation unless I’m missing some other way to test my setups.248Views0likes4CommentsRe: TMO-G4SE Cannot go to websites from PC Browsers
Same gateway model won’t work with Surfshark wireguard protocol. This is a fairly recent development. Gateway is too locked down to be useful, needs a bridge mode badly. I can tether off my phone and everything is 4 times faster and VPN works with all protocols. C’mon T-Mobile, stop blocking people from protecting themselves with VPNs.234Views0likes0CommentsMy solution to Genie Garage Door openers and Aladdin Connect
So I have a Genie Model 3155D garage door opener that uses the Aladdin-Connect App. It was not working with my TMO-G4SE gateway. After some digging around the internet, some people suggested that the problem might have to do with the wpa2/wpa3 setting that the gateway defaults to. So I didn't want to change my main network connection security settings. So what I did was add a hidden network (you can also unhide it but it's only a preference thing)inside the T-Life app and set it to WPA2 (WPA/WPA2, would also probably work). Then I went through and connected my phone to the hidden network-then ran the Aladdin-Connect App and it finally logged my garage door opener to the gateway. (Remember to disconnect your phone from the hidden network to test). Now I can use the garage door opener as the only connected device on a hidden SSID with WPA2. I don't know if it affects any other aspect of the gateway having an additional 2.4 network running but it solved my problems with the older garage door technology not wanting to connect the newer default protocols.295Views0likes0CommentsRe: Unidentified 'RDK-B-GW' Device Showing on G4AR Gateway - Need Help!
BTW-my gateway is the TMO-G4SE. I’d like to know something official from TM about what this thing is because it might be some sort of sniffing program or other nefarious device that has worked its way onto my network.171Views0likes0Comments
