Last five of SSN

I went to a retail store to sign up for 5G Home Internet and was okay with the normal what are the last four of your ssn. But, after getting into process a little deeper I was asked for first five of my ssn. I questioned the agent and he said this is T-Mobile policy. So, after photographing my license and having my complete ssn, I feel like I’ve been setup for the possibility of a major breach.

Which was it, the last five, or first five?

Obviously, one is worse than the other.

I meant to title this post FIRST five but was unable to edit after posting. Yes, worst case.
