tp link model tl-wa850re extender setup with 5g home wifi

Wifi extender use to work with att u verse home internet.  I have a few of them tried to set up with  t- mobile 5g wifi home internet and now they can't connect.  Tried different home WPA security setting still no luck.  So do I just need to buy newer type wifi extenders with 5 g or is there a simple type work around.  I read mesh this and that over my head really.  So can any one recommend wifi model extender that has been tested to work?  Thanks in advance

  • Cornflakes I am with you… seems it reads like we could do this but leaves out what collage o knowledge we supposed to go to??? I have two from att and hate to see em just collect dust!! But what do we do??

  • Specifications for TL-WA850RE TP-LINK 300Mbps Universal WiFi Range Extender TP-LINK 300Mbps Wireless N Wall Plugged Range Extender, Atheros, 2T2R, 2.4GHz, 802.11n/g/b

The TL-WA850RE runs at 2.4GHz so if you really want to make it connect to the gateway you will probably have to add a second SSID on the 2.4GHz wireless frequency and it supports 64/128/152-bit WEP, WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK encryption so you can add WPA/WPA2 on that SSID for the security. If you have an older printer or some one off client that only lives on 2.4 GHz with an 802.11n/g/b wireless adapter then it might have some purpose. Sure adding a bit of signal in a hard to reach room might be good but it is not a pocket rocket. Every dog has its day. The issue is not with the T-Mobile gateway but rather with the approach to making it communicate to the newer gateway that supports 802.11ax and a host of newer features. So if you have the Arcadyan or Sagemcon fire up the T-Mobile Home Internet mobile application so you can manage the gateway and get to where you can add the SSID.
