If I get a router, will that help the modem with location and connected with no internet issues?
No. Adding a router will not make any difference with the changing locations due to the modem switching towers and the route the connection takes to actually hit ground infrastructure. Adding a router will potentially help with devices being disconnected or remaining connected but are put to sleep and don't properly wake, but only if those devices are connected to the WiFi of the router and not the gateway.
