Not sure about that but I think all phones supplied by TMO have their software customized to provide WiFi calls, so we may be in the clear on that side.
Regarding regular texts our workaround has been to use Whatsapp among ourselves, but granted, that wouldn’t work for the usual 2FA setup which depends on text messages… that would screw things up.
