Can't send individual text messages

I sent out a group text message when I got a new phone number, on my Samsung Galaxy S23.  Since then I cannot send any individual text messages. I can receive individual text messages but cannot respond unless I attach another phone number. I can send an individual text message if I attach it to a photo. I have contacted T-Mobile Techs and they are telling me there is nothing wrong with my phone. ( I feel it’s the system not my phone) I have since got a new phone and SIM card, still the same problem after downloads. What can I do and does anyone have any suggestions to this problem.

I an having the same issue. It's been 3 weeks since I got the phone.  I am waiting for t-mobile to call me back. So frustrating!!!!! This had to be a system issue since many of us are having the same problem.

Answer to first question is yes.  At first I could send to my husband (he was not in the group) and now for some reason I can’t send him messages!🤦🏻 I was using the Samsung app but switched to Google message app hoping it would solve the problem. It is frustrating. I have the RCS turned off, have turned on but no change. I have disabled the Samsung Messages app.

So if I understand correctly, you type out a short message and hit send. On your phone it looks like the message sent and there is no indication otherwise. The other person’s phone never gets notified that you sent a message. Is that right?

Have you tried to send a text message to someone that was NOT in the group message that you sent when you first got the phone? You probably have, but I just want to be sure.

Which messaging app are you currently using? Newer Galaxy phones come with at least two built-in messaging options: Samsung Messages and Messages by Google. RCS is a new type of messaging built by Google and new things can have some growing pains early on. You can check and change the default messaging app to see if using the other one allows you to send those messages without having to add a picture.

There is no error message, i had a galaxy S21 before. If i attach a picture to the text message than my friends receive the text. Without the picture they never receive anything. Yes, it is crazy.

That is really odd! I have a few questions so I can better understand and provide relevant resolutions.

When you send a message, what error message do you get?

What messaging app are you using?

What phone did you have before your new Galaxy S23?
