Account access when PIN is forgotten
I recently lost my iPhone at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. It did end up in the Lost and Found there. In order to retrieve my phone, I needed to provide my IMEI number. Prior to my trip, I had switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and purchased a new iPhone 14. When I contacted T-Mobile from Germany, I could not remember the newly created PIN. Because I could not recall my PIN, regardless of having all other login information, I could not receive my IMEI. There was NO workaround for this. Completely frustrating that I almost lost my phone over this. Fortunately, I eventually contacted my daughter who was able to obtain the number from the iPhone 14 box that was still on my desk. It is my opinion, that there should be a work around for this with SSN or security questions, etc.

The lost and found remove the SIM card and can identify the phone using the IMEI number. How they go about doing all that, I’m not sure. There’s no sticker with the number on the back of my phone.

a bit curious but unless your phone is never locked how exactly would they be able to tell you what your IMEI is without gaining access to the settings within the phone? or were the stickers left on it?
