I have a new Samsung Watch 6 LTE and need help using it without the phone
Can someone help?
Since it is LTE I thought that it would work even if my phone is turned off, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Is this the normal behavior? If so, why would anybody want an LTE watch?

Did you ever find out how to unbind the watch and phone to use separately?

Getting the watches connected to their respective phones should be a couple of easy steps during the watch setup, but sometimes things just don’t flow that easily. The watch and phone lines are able to share a phone number using our DIGITS service (your watch line most likely has some variation of the DIGITS plan). You can use the DIGITS portal to make sure that your phone number is linked to your watch line and help reestablish that connection on this new watch. Check out the steps on our Get started with DIGITS T-Mobile Support page.
Hope this helps!

As I already had a watch line when i got the 6 I just went through the setup on the watch to add it and remove the 4 I had previously. You will need a watch line though.

It's a digits number for the watch that's connected to your phone number. If I left my phone at home I would still get calls on my watch.

The watch has another (its own) line (another phone number) though it is linked to my phone number that I had already before purchasing the watch. Obviously you don’t want to suddenly have one more number to use, but the number assigned to the watch is not meant and cannot be directly used, for example cannot call that number. I was told that each device must have its own number, kind of place-holder in T-Mobile’s system. Silly solution IMHO. Still, as said, I cannot text or call from the watch if the phone is turned off. @gramps28 how exactly do you set this up, what are the steps, where in the settings is that option? And I still wonder why this needs to be set up and not happens by default? Is there anybody who wants the watch not usable when the phone if turned off?

Actually you don't need to call T-Mobile, you can set up the line going through the watches app or the watch itself. That's how I set up my Pixel watch.

it must have its own line in order for this to happen. watch plans i believe are around $10 per month. you’ll need to contact TMO to set this up. if you do NOT want to pay for another line then unfortunately you’ll need to link the phone and watch via bluetooth and you wont be able to be out of range of the phone/watch.
