What's the easiest way to do a Jump upgrade? Online or in-store?
Do I have to send my old phone before I receive the new one, or after? How will I know if T-Mobile will pay off the remaining balance?
Hi.. We have to Options for JUMP! upgrades. I hope This could Help make the process much easier.
JUMP! gives you the freedom to upgrade your phone when you want, not when you're told. T-Mobile will pay the remaining balance on your Equipment Installment Plan (EIP), up to half of your original device purchase price. Any remaining EIP balance not covered by us will need to be paid by you at the time of the upgrade.
Follow these steps to complete a JUMP! upgrade on My T-Mobile or visit a T-Mobile retail store:
1.Go to My T-Mobile and log in to your account.
2.Click SHOP near the top of the page.
3.Click the Upgrade button. If you don't see this button, a JUMP! upgrade isn't available for you at this time.
4.On the Select your device page, click the device you'd like to upgrade to, and follow the instructions to complete the JUMP! upgrade.
Your options at End of Lease
About 60 days prior, you'll start to receive reminders that your lease for the device is ending soon. These messages will be sent by email and text, and you'll also find them on your bill. As your lease ends, you'll be able to choose one of the following options:
- Upgrade the device: The upgrade must be of a different model or memory size. To perform an upgrade, visit one of our retail locations.
- Purchase the device: You can purchase the device for the amount of remaining installments, the purchase option price specified in your lease agreement, and taxes.
- Purchase Option Installment Plan (POIP): You can also use our Purchase Option Installment Plan (POIP), which is a no-interest, nine-month installment plan.
- Sign up for POIP on My T-Mobile:
- Log in to My T-Mobile.
- Click Billing.
- Under 'JUMP! On Demand lease' click View lease details.
- Click Get Installment Plan.
- Review the payment information. A payment is due for the taxes today and then there will be nine monthly payments.
- Enter payment details, then click Agree & continue.
- Complete the e-signature process.
- Once the transaction is complete, a confirmation message displays.
- Sign up for POIP on the T-Mobile app
- This option is not currently available in the T-Mobile app. If it again becomes available, this section will be updated.
- Sign up for POIP on My T-Mobile:
- Turn in the device and end the lease: If there are no more installments left, you can turn in the leased device in good condition (see what's considered excess wear further below). To do this, you'll need to go to a T-Mobile retail location.
Looking forward on your upgrade

Why can’t I upgrade online with jump? Never been an issue before and I just found out today that I’ve laid off my last phone, never received any heads up. I’m sick and would appreciate doing this online as usual, is this possible? Also if I decide go go with AT&T because of discounts at work do I just drop this one off?

Hey there! I tend to do my upgrades in the store, mostly because I want to play with a phone a bit before I sign that dotted line! Plus, I'm not big on paying for shipping and having to wait for my phone to arrive- I'm super impatient and I want to walk straight out of the store with my new toys. 😊
You won't turn in your current device until after you receive your new one. After a few days, if you check T-Mobile.com and look at your EIPs, your old phone will show as paid off.
