Dude, you can't LIE to the insurance company. That said I also had a phone get lost in the mail "supposedly ". I took a video of it being dropped into a mail box and used that to fight assurant. They eventually somehow found the phone but it was. Months after I was charged a flphone fee. I eventually got my fee reversed but this may be some wacky scam by them.
Next time I'm dropping an air tag in the package to track it so they can't argue.
