Lost phone overseas

Last October I’ve lost my phone my US phone in Europe and since then I have been contacting T-Mobile in order to regain access to my account. It seems that T-Mobile’s only way to verify my account is to send a verification code to my US lost phone (which is likely at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea). I have explained to the many customer service reps I spoke with that (1) I currently live overseas and I cannot go to a T-Mobile store, (2) I do not have access to my phone, thus sending a OTP is useless.

Although there many other ways to verify my Identity, T-mobile reps have been unwilling to help. On the meantime my monthly bill is paid automatically from my US bank account.  

I have spent hours on the phone with T-mobile not to avail, and I urgently need to get access to my US number.

I would be most thankful if anybody could provide some help on this matter. I should be able to regain access to my account without having to go to the US.
