Assaulted by T-Mobile employee ...what do I do?
I was walking through the Del Amo fashion center mall several months ago and with about 20 minutes left before the mall closed I decided to stop in the T-Mobile stiore on my way out….long story not as long; a young man wearing a T-Mobile shirt, at a T-Mobile store, clearly a T-Mobile employee (as I witnessed him assisting others in the store) he tells me loudly as I walk in, “You’re gonna have to wait!” ….I had not said a word yet as I had just entered the store. I reply, “that’s fine, I’m just here to pay my bill..” and he says quite clearly, “weird-ass ni**a...” ….I asked him , “are you saying that to me..?!?” at which point he runs over, gets in my face and starts yelling and challenging me to “go outside to his car” that we can “settle this outside”… at which time I am beyond shocked that this is even taking place… as a veteran who served his country proudly in the Marine Corps, I exercised tremendous restraint in my desire to find closure to this unforseen altercation - he was substantially shorter than I and seemed to find great satisfaction in throwing racial slurs and challenges at me. It was when he reached out and grabbed my arm that I almost lost my composure, but decided that I would remove myself from the situation and neutralize the escaation before someone got hurt. I find it sadthat all the while as he was barking all in my face like some tough guy that a young lady, about the same size as the young man - had positioned herself between the aggressor and myself - trying to diffuse things herself as though she had become familiar with this man and his outburts…. so as I stand outside talking with mall security with a crowd of onlookers I look in the store to see the same young lady sitting with 2 young children maybe ages 4 or 5, turns out these children are the aggressors children, whose mother had just tried to keep their father from getting hurt by this “old man” (myself) …. as I was being asked by mall security what I was intending to do (wait for/call police/file charges, etc) I saw these children sitting with their mother, waiting for Dad to get off work and I could not bring myself to hold him accountable for his unwarranted outburst and rage…. in looking back I think I made the wrong choice. I think I may have dropped the ball where this violent and senselessly angry young man needed to be given a wake up call. I think kI still can make a report with the police and I am feeling compelled to do so, but I have also been a tmobile customer for several years and can’t help but feel conflicted - I have considered consulting an attorney but am still conflicted. What if that was my son or daughter instead of me? What if this happened somewhere else where the man had access to a weapon or something as he suggested in our altercation? Something does not feel right about this and it’s really affected me in ways I have a difficult time explaining. I would appreciate input from fellow customers. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Hey there @garthvader I want to start out by saying thank you for your service to this country. I commend you for your ability to control yourself in that situation and avoid a physical altercation, especially since his kids were there. It looks like you handled that situation very well and then reported it to security and T-Mobile just like you should have. I don’t know anything about the laws in California or if reporting him to the police could help prevent him from making poor choices in the future. I understand that getting some kind of follow up about the incident report that you filed with T-Mobile could help you get some closure on the situation. We take these situations seriously, however, the exact actions taken are confidential, so we aren’t able to share what exactly happened with the employee.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us as well as other customers to make sure that it is addressed and everyone can have a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience moving forward.

I have a bunch of T-Mobile shirts and stuff and I have never worked for T-Mobile. Anyone can buy a T-Mobile shirt or other branded T-Mobile gear from bemagenta.com.
California is a wild place! Although I personally don’t agree with their actions to not prosecute people for thefts under $1,000, which has led to a massive increase in crime and theft. It seems unusual to come here to bring up something you don’t seem to have anything but an eyewitness account of something that should have been reported to police while it was happening. Do you have any video of the incident that might help address the issue, if it is even related to T-Mobile? Did you contact the store manager or owner, some T-Mobile locations are independently owned? Did you contact the head office for the mall to file a report? Did you contact local law enforcement or call 911 during or after the incident that day?

commit a crime involving the mans money and you will be prosecuted beyond the extent of reason, yet beat your spouse or anyone else for that matter and you get minimal prosecution… this place is what the rest of the country needs to avoid becoming at all costs!

California is not charging certain crimes so they have nothing to lose.

It’s the same mall, and I’m not sure what got into the folks down there with all that craziness - it’s a shame that the hoodlums and thug wanna be-bullys aren’t just raising hell at the mall, it looks like they are employed there as well. And I’m not 100% if the guy works there any more - I haven’t wanted to go there for any sort of retribution should his coworkers (or former coworkers) have a grudge - who knows …. I moved to Los Angeles about 10 years ago and the senseless violence and ignorance I’ve seen from all segments of society here just blow me away.

Is this the same mall? Looks like it's a rough place.

I apologize for any misunderstanding, I have not posted on here before and figured this was as good a forum to ask advice on the subject, but to clarify, I did report it immediately yto TMobile. I contacted them and told them the details of the incident as it had occured and they assured me they wopuld be taking action and see to it this would not happen again. I posted here for obvious reasons: that this is something that should not be tolerated by ANY customer, or any person at all as far as I’m concerned. TMobile has not provided any details of how it was dealt with or offered any information as far as that goes other than I have the option of reaching out by sending a letter to their corporate offices. It had been confirmed initially that the incident was caught on surveillance and the customer service representative apologized sayiung how this should have never happened.
But to answer your question, I DID report it to them and followed up with several calls only to ne basically brushed off. Seems that racial slurs and verbal/physical attacks are something TMobile permits their employees to engage in (?)….am i missing something here?

If this happened several months ago why are you now posting about it and didn't immediately report it to Tmobile?
