What is personal data?

Personal data is any information that relates to you or your household. The most obvious examples include your name, address, phone number, or email. In other words, specific pieces of information that directly identify you. Personal data also includes a category of data legally referred to as sensitive personal data—it’s more sensitive in nature than personal data and includes information such as an individual’s Social Security number, online account log-in credentials, race or ethnicity, and biometric information.

If you have questions about how personal data is collected, read our T-Mobile Privacy Notice.

Can I submit a request to access the personal data T-Mobile has collected about me?

Yes, you can ask us to share that information with you—we’ll send you a report once we receive your request and confirm your identity. The process and results will vary based on who you are and your relationship with T-Mobile. Visit our Personal data request page and choose the category that best describes you to get started.

Can I submit a request to delete personal data T-Mobile has collected about me?

Yes, you can ask us to delete your personal information. The process and results will vary based on your relationship with us and how you interact with us. Once we receive your request and confirm your identity, we’ll delete your personal data to the extent we can.

If you’re a T-Mobile employee or associate, you can ask us to delete your personal information. However, we’ll need to retain any personal information required to administer the employment relationship and to comply with our legal obligations.

To get started with a deletion request, visit our Personal data request page and select ‘Get Started’ within the category that best describes your relationship with T-Mobile.

Can T-Mobile MONEY customers submit personal data requests to T-Mobile?

Any personal information collected for your T‑Mobile MONEY account is collected by our partners BM Technologies, Inc. (BMTX) and Customers Bank, not T-Mobile. Please refer to their privacy policies below.

Read the BM Technologies, Inc. Privacy Policy.

Read the Customers Bank Privacy Notice.

I want to make a personal data request, but I’ve used more than one name, email address, and phone number with T-Mobile. What should I do?

You’ll need to submit a separate request for each combination of emails and/or phone numbers you've used with us. For example, if you’re an employee or contractor, and you also have a personal T-Mobile account, you’ll have to submit two personal data requests.

To get started, visit our Personal data request page and choose a category that describes you. Once you’ve completed that request, return to the same page to choose another category that describes you. The process and results will vary based on who you are and how you interact with us.

The name and address I used to sign up for service is different from what is currently on my identification. Will I still be able to submit a request?

To submit a request to access, delete, or correct information, there must be an exact match between your identification and your account profile. For example, if you signed up for service or set your caller ID using a different name than what appears on your government ID, including a different middle name or an abbreviated name, we won’t be able to find you in our system or provide you with any account information.

You may be able to correct the personal information associated with your account before you submit your personal data request. Just log in to your account online or through the app on your phone to update your account information.

Does T-Mobile sell or share my personal data?

California has a data protection law called the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). It gives California consumers the right to tell companies to not sell or share their personal information. We use this legislation as the benchmark for the privacy choices we extend to all our customers.

If you don’t want us to sell your personal data, select the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link at the bottom of many pages on our website and turn data sharing OFF. Or manage your Do Not Sell or Share preference—and other privacy settings—in your Privacy Dashboard.

What is Global Privacy Control and how do I know if it's working on my browser?

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is an online tool available on select browsers and browser extensions that automatically sends a signal to websites telling them you don’t want to be tracked and don’t want your personal data sold.

To learn which browsers offer this option and how to turn on GPC, visit the Global Privacy Control website.

T-Mobile recognizes Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. This means that if your browser or browser extension has GPC enabled, our websites will automatically recognize that signal and opt you out of the “sale” or “share” of your personal data. For more information about GPC, please visit the Global Privacy Control website.

Read more about your privacy options in our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information article.

What is T-Mobile’s policy about the personal data of children?

We know it’s important to treat children’s data carefully. The Children’s Privacy Notice explains what we do (and don’t do) when it comes to children’s data. Generally, if you allow a child to use our products or services by providing them with a device or other access associated with your account, any personal data associated with their use will be treated as your personal data.

If you’re the parent or guardian of a child using a T-Mobile phone with postpaid service, T-Mobile is currently testing the ability to designate the line as a Kids’ Line. To learn more, including how to set up a Kids’ Line, please see our support page Manage privacy settings in Family Controls.

The T-Mobile Privacy Notice and the Children’s Privacy Notice don’t apply to data collected by third party apps and websites, and we encourage parents to review the terms and policies of apps and websites before allowing children to use them. For more info, read our Family Controls and privacy article.
